The Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology was selected as the leading organization in the hiring of female scientists and engineers.

The Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology announced on November 4 that the institute was honored with the best gender innovation organization award on the basis of the 2014 female agricultural scientist and engineer employment evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning that targeted a total of 108 R&D organizations of science and engineering across the nation.

The Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology won the award due to the fact that all four researchers hired in 2012 and 2013 are female, and that one who was promoted to the level of a senior researcher is a female scientist.

Female scientists working at the Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology achieved outstanding results last year, including the presentation of 18 papers and registration of 31 industrial property rights. Particularly, those female scientists who are developing new rose and chrysanthemum cultivars have developed and supplied 46 rose cultivars and 28 chrysanthemum cultivars, contributing to an increase in the income of flower farm houses by saving over KRW 2 billion in royalty payments.

Gyeonggi Institute of Agricultural Science and Technology Director Lim Jae-uk said, “The institute will strive to develop agricultural science technologies by hiring more female scientists with highly professional skills, utilizing high-quality female human resources and by creating a female-friendly organizational culture so that Korea’s agricultural products can be recognized as the best around the world.”
