Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation is continuing with the Relay of Sharing of for the less fortunate neighbors in the Province.
Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation (CEO: Choi, Geum Shik) completed the activities of the project ‘G-UM (CONSTRUCTION) Remodeling’ for improvement of the poor environment at the welfare facilities for elderly and held the ceremony for completion of the construction works on December 22, just ahead of Christmas.
This event was executed in the order of handing over of donation valued at about 70 million Won, handing up of signboard, snack time and handing over of presents in the presences of G-UM (construction) voluntary service group composed of approximately 50 staffs of the Corporation and university students, interested personnel of Habitat Korea and the Resting Place of Love, etc.
G-UM Remodeling is a talent donation activity by the staffs and executives of the Corporation and the university students in the Province majoring in areas related to construction aimed at making contribution towards the improvement of welfare for the elderly through the remodeling and repair works on the dilapidated welfare facilities for elderly in the Province. It is a project that won the Outstanding Award in the ‘Public competition for social contribution program’ that the Corporation organized in 2013.
The Corporation launched the ‘G-UM Voluntary Service Group’ composed of 30 university students and 20 staffs and executives of the Corporation in September and completed the construction works on December 13 by participating in all the aspects of the remodeling from design to construction.
The manager of the Customer Satisfaction Team of the Corporation explained that, “the G-UM voluntary service group executed various activities including expansion of storage spaces through manufacturing of customized furniture, repair of washing and shower facilities, new construction of laundry room, expansion of the external rest spaces, manufacturing of picnic tables, and improvement of thermal insulation and leakage problems, etc. over the last 3 months” and that, “the project is interspersed with numerous moving stories including the construction executing the remodeling and repair works in excess of those stipulated in the contract by giving up the portion of their profits for having sympathized with the intention of the event.”
The first ‘Resting Place of Love’ at the subject of the remodeling this year is the public residential facility for the elderly people living on the basic living allowances from the government in Namyangju City. The Corporation is planning to pursue activities for improvement of residential environment for even larger number of less fortunate neighbors in the Province next year.
