This is the Public Service Center where residents go to file complaints. Today, Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil will come to this center to hear resident complaints. Governor Nam has been holding ‘Let’s Meet the Governor’ sessions since he took office in July last year, though some might have thought it to be just a one-time event. For the sessions, the governor sets aside two hours every Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, alternating between the Gyeonggi Province Government Complex in Suwon and the Northern Gyeonggi Office in Uijeongbu.

Governor Nam, as usual, held the civil service counseling session, ‘Let’s Meet the Governor,’ on the morning of January 9 at the Public Service Center in the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex, and reviewed a total of eight civic complaint cases.

The eight civic complaints were: a reinstatement demand for a sub-contractor not taking over employment; a reappraisal demand for the Jinwi Second General Industrial Complex; an inadequate-action grievance regarding apartment audit results; an explanation regarding suspected sale price inflation in Wirye New Town; an unfair-compensation grievance regarding renters for the Cultural Properties Protection Zone maintenance project in Suwon; compensation measures for buildings damaged by the Suwon Stream restoration project and bridge construction; an unreasonable-rejection grievance regarding permission for storage construction; and a compensation request for losses incurred through the Godeung-dong redevelopment project in Suwon City.

Regarding the reinstatement demand due to a sub-contractor not taking over employment, Governor Nam said that he would review further and make an effort to help those affected. Governor Nam also had the person who filed the complaint directly communicate with the related authorities to discuss specifically whether there has been some misunderstanding and what could be done to resolve the issue.

Regarding the reappraisal demand for the Jinwi Second General Industrial Complex, Governor Nam explained the appraisal procedure, making the point that the appraisal was done according to lawful procedures. He promised that he would make sure those affected received the maximum benefits under the current system.

For the complaint requesting an explanation of the suspected sale price inflation in Wirye New Town, Governor Nam clearly explained the difference between other apartment complexes built by other developers and the one developed by the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation. He also immediately took the action of having the issue posted on the related website.

Governor Nam showed great interest in the other complaints and did his utmost to identify solutions. Since most civil complaints are of a complicated nature that requires time, Governor Nam referred cases to the corresponding units so that people can receive maximum benefits under the current system with minimum loss.
