The Gyeonggi Province Delegation headed by Vice Governor II Kim Hee-kyeum for Administrative Affairs returned home on February 28 after visiting Norway and Germany for 6 days and 4 nights.
During their visit to Norway and Germany, the delegation took part in various activities concerning the establishment of a collaborative network with European countries, signing an MOU for economic collaboration with Akershus County of Norway and another for mutual collaboration between the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation and Bremen City of Germany.
On February 25, Mr. Kim Hee-kyeum signed an MOU for economic collaboration with Mayor Anett Solli of Akershus County of Norway at the latter’s office and discussed matters related to mutual cooperation in the economic, administrative and environmental sectors.
The two sides promised to work together for the technological development of hydrogen energy, which is expected to replace fossil energy in the long term, and hydrogen fuel cell cars first under the MOU.
They agreed that they would gain a more advantageous position concerning the changing energy trend by getting private businesses to work together, fully utilizing well-developed hydrogen-related infrastructures such as the hydrogen recharge stations in Akershus County and the hydrogen fuel cell car-related technology possessed by Gyeonggi-do.
The MOU-signing ceremony was attended by General Manager Frank Meijer, in charge of fuel cell cars for Hyundai Motor Company in Europe, President Ulf Hafseld of HYOP, the largest hydrogen recharging station in Europe, and other business representatives. Vice Governor II Kim Hee-kyeum and Mayor Anett Solli gave pep talks to Hyundai Motor Company employees in charge of fuel cell cars after signing the MOU.
Later in the day, Vice Governor Kim Hee-kyeum took part in the luncheon meeting hosted by Ambassador Lee Byung-hwa at the Korean Embassy in Norway. There, he thanked Chairman Nils Egelien, a member of the Norwegian Korean War Veterans Association who served as an enlisted soldier of NORMASH during the Korean War.
On February 26, Vice Governor Kim Hee-kyeum attended the MOU-signing ceremony held between the Gyeonggi-do Office, the State of Bremen, the Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Corporation, the Bremen Ports, and 속 BLG Logistics concerning mutual cooperation for the invigoration of vehicle-related logistics operations.
