Furthermore, the Big-Fi Project Division is expected to play a crucial role in establishing a foundation for the big data industry, creating employment opportunities, and vitalizing the local economy.
The Big-Fi Project Division seeks to realize a smart provincial government based on data by providing safe and convenient service while creating a self-regulating data industry ecosystem. To that end, it declared a vision of becoming ‘a big data pioneer for a vigorous NEXT Gyeonggi’, and expressed its determination to ensure the data industry becomes a springboard for new sources of growth in Gyeonggi Province.
Governor Nam Kyung-pil said, “Gyeonggi Province will make this the first year in creating a global standard for big data. We will strive to lead the big data industry.” He added, “Big data is a double-edged sword in the sense that it can make our lives more convenient yet it can also cause problems of privacy infringement. Please pool your efforts in solving these problems and create a safe and warm Gyeonggi Province by fulfilling the Big-Fi Project.”
