– Guangdong tourism industry gathers to study the Gyeonggi-do tourism goods –
Gyeonggi-do has been involved in active exchanges with Guangdong province of China since an MOU was signed in 2003. Guangdong tourism industry representatives including 28 industry personnel and civil officials visited Gyeonggi-do between January 10 and 14 to study different tourism goods and resources.
The visit is designed to develop and market different tourism goods. The program featured the DMZ which is considered the world’s best preserved natural environment housing both the pain in separation and dream for everlasting peace as well as recreational parks such as ski resorts and Everland.
The delegates were particularly interested in the DMZ and ski resorts in Gyeonggi-do. They expressed that the reality exceeded their expectation in terms of proximity to Seoul and abundant resourcefulness. They showed much interest in the province’s major support programs in the Visit Gyeonggi Year 2005.
The visit included B2B meetings with the province’s tourism industry personnel on prices and profitability. The delegates plan to launch merchandizing and sales of various products upon their return to Guangdong.
The head of Guangdong delegates stated, “We were able to see how the provincial governor, civil officials, Gyeonggi tourism corporation, and the industry association work as one in close collaboration to one another. We are certain that the province will soon become the center of the Asian tourism industry.”
