The Gyeonggi Grand Sale, featuring various discount promotions for foreign tourists, will continue from August 14 until the end of October. Sixteen companies including major department stores and supermarkets, as well as fashion, entertainment, beauty, accommodation, food, and beverage vendors in Gyeonggi Province will participate in this event.
More specifically, the businesses taking part in the Gyeonggi Grand Sale include: Encore Duty Free and Kyobo Hottracks in shopping; Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Club Monaco, Calvin Klein, and Steve J & Yoni P in the fashion sector; and the Ibis-Ambassador Suwon, and Hotel Inter-Burgo Ansan in the accommodation sector.
Also participating in the event are: Lepontina in the food and beverage sector; Everland, Amazing Park, One Mount, Petite France, the Museum of Modern History of Korea, the Korean Folk Village, and Herb Island from the entertainment sector; and Olive Young, Korean Ginseng Research, and Cell Fusion C from the beauty sector.
Companies will offer a variety of benefits to foreign tourists during the Gyeonggi Grand Sale including discounted prices for products, upgrades for accommodation, gift vouchers and discount coupons, and lower admission fees.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, “Gyeonggi Province has recognized that foreign tourists visit Korea to shop, eat, and enjoy theme parks, therefore this event was planned to attract tourists by offering a large scale discount promotion.” The official continued, “With the Gyeonggi Grand Sale, we expect to recover from the loss of foreign tourists caused by MERS, and we hope this event serves as a turning point that infuses energy into the suffering tourism industry.”
