A large number of major Korean and overseas buyers are set to participate in the ‘2015 G-FAIR KOREA (Korean Sourcing Fair)’.
Invitations to the 2015 G-FAIR KOREA for major buyers in Korea and overseas are now complete. The four-day event starts on November 5; it will be hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Support Center (GSBC) at KINTEX in Goyang City.
The list includes 500 overseas buyers (from 40 countries, 433 companies) participating in the export exhibition as well as 309 domestic merchandisers including purchasing officers at home shopping companies, online shopping companies, and large businesses attending the purchasing exhibition. The event is expected to inject some life into the sales activities of small and medium enterprises suffering in the aftermath of MERS.
The overseas buyers invited to this year’s event represent proven companies with real intent to purchase Korean products. The buyers were selected by the Gyeonggi Business Center (GBC) network that provides trade representation for GSBC, KOTRA’s offshore trade offices, and the network of Overseas Korean Traders Association (OKTA).
Country-wise, the list includes companies from: China (157), Japan (31), the Asia-Pacific (151), North America (19), Russia and Kazakhstan (12), Europe (11), and more.
The increased number of Chinese buyers compared to last year is expected to spur sales by small and medium businesses, especially with the Korea-China FTA set to take effect soon.
GSBC CEO Yun Jong-il said, “The export and purchase events that could directly lead to contracts with buyers are key programs at G-FAIR KOREA.” CEO Yun added, “We will do our best to help small and medium businesses who are having a hard time entering overseas markets.”
Meanwhile, GSBC helped small and medium businesses participating in last year’s G-FAIR KOREA explore new sales areas with USD 850 million worth of consultations for exports and KRW 88.6 billion worth of consultations for purchases.
