Governor attends Korea-China Economic Forum from December 4 to 5 and help businesses across Gyeonggi Province enter Chinese market

◇ Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil departs for China on December 3 to attend the Korea-China Economic Forum scheduled for December 4 and 5 in Chongqing. Governor Nam intends to induce investments from Chinese corporations into Gyeonggi Province, and also to promote startups from Gyeonggi Province in the cultural contents industry. ⓒ Gyeonggi Provincial Government 

Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil will travel to China to increase cooperation with China’s heartland, a region that has become the nation’s new economic center.  

Governor Nam Kyung-pil departs for China on December 3 to attend the Korea-China Economic Forum scheduled for December 4 and 5 in Chongqing. Governor Nam intends to induce investments from Chinese corporations into Gyeonggi Province, and also to promote startups from Gyeonggi Province in the cultural contents industry. 

Co-hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the China Newspaper Media Group, the Korea-China Economic Forum offers a platform for the discussion of measures that will help increase economic cooperation between Korea and China in light of the Korea-China FTA, while also enhancing networks aimed at attracting investments.  

Over 200 guests including Governor Nam and other business figures from Korea and China are expected attend this year’s Forum. More specifically, the guest list includes 37 Korean luminaries headlined by SM Entertainment President Lee Soo-man, CJ China CEO Park Geun-tae, and Hurom President Jeong Yeong-du in addition to more than 100 Chinese guests led by Siyou Internet Technology President Li Xinhao, and Zhongxin Culture Content Investment Ltd. General Manager Yang Dongsheng.  

Governor Nam is scheduled to deliver a congratulatory address at the forum’s opening ceremony early on December 4 and will urge Korea and China to promote economic trade and strengthen their partnership.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will host a Startup Pitching Day event aimed at helping startups from Gyeonggi Province enter the Chinese market and attract Chinese capital. The event features seven corporations in the cultural contents industry from across Gyeonggi Province and invites Chinese investors to take part in the Korea-China Economic Forum. Startup Pitching Day holds special significance as it will help startups in the cultural contents sector identify ways in which to expand into China.  

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will also host a Korea-China Briefing Session for Investments in Outstanding Industries to outline the advantages of investing in Gyeonggi Province and to introduce major development plans.

At the briefing session, Governor Nam will present the investment environment in Gyeonggi Province and introduce development plans including the China Center at 2nd Pangyo, Goyang Hallyu World, and the Gwangmyeong·Siheung Cutting-edge Research Complex as well as notable development projects across the province such as the Yellow Sea Free Economic Zone to attract Chinese capital. 

In addition, Governor Nam will meet Chongqing Party Secretary Sun Zhengcai, next in line for a leadership role in China, and discuss means to strengthen cooperation between the two regions.
