The Australia Trade Promotion
Group from Gyeonggi Province utilized the Korea-Australia FTA to open new
overseas markets during its visit to Melbourne and Sydney from April 17 to 23.

Given that the Korea-Australia
FTA was launched a year ago, the Gyeonggi FTA Support Center created the Australia
Trade Promotion Group to utilize the FTA in identifying opportunities in
Australia for exporting companies across Gyeonggi Province.

Ten small and medium
enterprises in Gyeonggi Province including GSA, Navray Korea, Jinheung Food,
Curiotec, Good Sense, Real Factory, and Mirico participated in the group.

The Australia Trade Promotion
Group engaged clients in Melbourne between April 17 and 19, and additional
clients in Sydney between April 20 and 22. Their efforts led to 80 consultation
sessions, USD 13.5 million in quotes, and USD 8.5 million in signed contracts.

Of particular note, Mirico
introduced portable leakage detectors and industrial equipment for which demand
is increasing rapidly in the Australian market. As such, Mirico was very well received
by Australian buyers during local consultations in Melbourne and Sydney.

Mirico approached clients with
competitive products at low prices. Accordingly, it successfully won an initial
contract worth USD 580,000. CEO Yong-ki Bang said,
We became more confident
thanks to the high level of interest local buyers had in our company
s products, and this
became a positive opportunity for us to enter the Australian market.

In addition, Jinheung Foods – which
previously participated in the Middle East Trade Promotion Group from Gyeonggi
Province – offered its dried laver product for sushi and garnered interest from
the Australian market as well this year. Australian buyers who tasted Jinheung
Foods

dried laver for sushi chose Jinheung Foods
product over comparable
Chinese products. The company anticipates exporting products worth USD 1.1
million.

Apart from this, Haeorum
Family – which exports facial mask packs – signed an initial contract worth USD
380,000 thanks to increased interest in Korean cosmetic products among Australians.

Gyeonggi Provinces International Trade
Division Chief Koh Bong-tae said,
By sending the Australian Trade Promotion Group and
using that as an opportunity, we will offer a wider range of services to
support the entry of more companies into the Australian market.
