Gyeonggi Province earned the
honor of being selected as the most outstanding organization for the second consecutive
year at the 2015 Senior Employment Evaluation Competition hosted by the
Ministry of Health & Welfare.
Announced on June 29, Gyeonggi
Province won the most outstanding award in the employment project division, the
same award it won last year. The award will be conferred on June 30 at KINTEX
in Goyang City.
Gyeonggi Province invested KRW
74.1 billion last year to create employment for senior citizens. It was able to
provide 40,982 jobs for seniors; this remarkable contribution helped Gyeonggi secure
the award.
The Ministry of Health & Welfare
conducts a comprehensive evaluation of senior employment projects among
municipal governments and senior clubs each year. Based on these evaluations, awards
and incentives are presented to organizations that achieve outstanding results.
This year’s
evaluation process examined 1,225 organizations that serve public interests and
1,192 entities that undertake employment opportunity projects.
Gyeonggi Province Social Job
Opportunities Division Chief Kang Yoon-goo said, “The best form of welfare
for our senior citizens is to offer sustainable jobs. Therefore, we will put
more support into projects that respond to the ageing population by promoting
job opportunities tailored to senior citizens. These projects can include
expanding senior clubs, sharing exemplary cases for employment creation, and
cooperating with private enterprises.”
