On
August 23, with more than 1,000 people from the textile industry in attendance,
Gyeonggi Province announced that it will host the 2016 Gyeonggi Knit
Collaboration Fashion Show on September 1 at G-TEXTOPIA in Yangju
City.
This fashion show, which will focus on the ‘collaboration
of fashion and knit’, is expected to showcase garments on top models designed
by 10 international designers including Chang Kwang-hyo, Jeong Hun-jong, Myeon
Yu-seok, and Kim Kyu-sik in collaboration with 14 textile companies in Gyeonggi
Province such as Sungshin Textiles, Changwoo Textiles, and Beomjin Corporation.
Of particular note, the event will see the invitation
of more than 50 overseas buyers for export consultations and therefore serve as
an ideal opportunity for textile companies to find clients in overseas markets.
Apart from the aforementioned features, the fashion
show will also feature: an exhibition
corner where fashion models from the show don some of the pieces showcased in
the fashion show as well as and a ‘designer piece order exhibition’ where
participating companies and buyers can consult on site; and a ‘designer pop-up store’ where visitors can
purchase garments and accessories made by renowned designers at reasonable
prices.
In addition, the University Student Fashion
Design Festival and the Good School Uniform Fashion Show, which take place on
the same day, are expected to attract the attention of visitors.
For the University Student Fashion Design
Festival, university students majoring in design will showcase a wide range of
outstanding pieces imbued with passion on the runway.
The Good School Uniform Fashion Show will be
an opportunity to unveil the final product of the ‘Good School Uniform’
project, first collaborative project between the provincial government and the Gyeonggi
Provincial Office of Education. The project uses high quality fabrics produced
in Gyeonggi Province to reduce the financial burden on parents. The final
product is expected be well received as
it takes into account recent trends and colors in its design.
Gyeonggi Province Assistant Governor for Economy
Chief Park Shin-hwan said, “With the 2016 Gyeonggi Knit
Collaboration Fashion Show, Gyeonggi Province will be able to become not only a center
of fabric production but also a Mecca for global
fashion businesses
by integrating fashion and design.”
Park added, “We will do our utmost to
help Gyeonggi Province’s fashion and design
industry to advance.”
