More than 100 up-and-coming beauty companies from Korea to participate from
September 22 to 24, showcasing cosmetics, hair, and aesthetics products

Gyeonggi Province is set to
ride the Korean Wave for K-Beauty in Southeast Asia all the way to Thailand.
Gyeonggi Province will host K-Beauty
EXPO Bangkok 2016 from September 22 to 24 in Challenger 3 Hall at the IMPACT
Exhibition Hall, Bangkok (Thailand).
This event, specializing in
the beauty industry, is geared to help support the Korean cosmetics industry
expand into Southeast Asian. The event will be co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province
and the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, and supervised by KINTEX. In
particular, this will be the first time to hold an expo specializing in the
Korean beauty industry at a venue overseas.
More than 100 up-and-coming
domestic beauty companies will set up 140 booths on a vast floor space of 3000㎡. These
companies will showcase a variety of products including: cosmetics, hair, esthetics,
body care, nail, smart-beauty devices, medical services (cosmeceutical), fragrances,
and fashion goods.
The EXPO will also work
closely with KOTRA’s overseas trade offices and invite more than 100
influential buyers from 10 ASEAN countries for 1-on-1 export consultation
sessions in order to maximize the commercial impact of this event.
The EXPO will be held at the
same venue as Beyond Beauty ASEAN Bangkok (BBAB) 2016, the largest beauty
industry expo in Thailand, and this is expected to create synergistic effects.
Apart from this, the EXPO will
feature additional events such as makeup and hair styling demonstrations,
K-Beauty trend seminars, Hallyu celebrity invitational autograph events, and
other Korean Wave-related events. These events are expected to spread the Korean
Wave in Southeast Asia for K-Beauty and lay the groundwork for the expansion of
Korean companies into the ASEAN market.
Gyeonggi Province Specialized
Industries Division Director Kim Ki-se said, “This K-Beauty EXPO will
be an opportunity for Korean companies to interact with beauty companies in the
ASEAN region including Thailand.” Kim added, “With this event, we’ll focus on promoting
our beauty industry and on securing a forward base for the entry of the
participating companies into the ASEAN market.”
Geographically, Thailand is at
the center of trade for the 10 ASEAN countries. It is the largest export
destination for the Korean beauty industry among Southeast Asian nations. In
recent years, interest in Korean celebrities has also increased K-Beauty
industry awareness.
