Gyeonggi Province, Gimpo City, and Gyeonggi
Tourism Organization will host the Pyeonghwanuri-gil Walking Event at Gimpo Pyeonghwanuri-gil
Course 1 – Yeomhagang River Trail – on October 15. Registration will open on
September 8 and tickets will be sold in order of registration.
The theme of the Pyeonghwanuri-gil Walking Event
is the ‘Scenery of Autumn at Yeomhagang River Trail.’ Participants will start from Daemyeonghang Port and follow the 8km trail
to the Sondol-myo, Buraedo, Deokpojin Dulle-gil Trail, and back to the port.
The course is suitable for participants of all ages as it has no dramatic
slopes.
Participants will gather at Daemyeonghang Port
Hamsang Park and walk past Deokpojin, the last line of defense against foreign
invasion during the Joseon Dynasty, and Buraedo Island, a tiny island in the
Hangang River. During their walk on the trail, participants can also enjoy views
of open fields being harvested.
Along the Deokpojin Dulle-gil lined with maple
trees, participants can enjoy the picturesque autumn scenery of the Yeomhagang
River Trail. As Daemyeonghang Port is the starting and finishing point of the
course, participants also can taste delicious jumbo shrimp and gizzard shad that
are in season.

At the Pyeonghwanuri-gil Walking Event, a variety
of programs have been prepared so as to facilitate enjoyment of the beautiful
scenery and atmosphere of autumn.
Programs include: the DMZ Outdoor Photograph
Exhibition, which displays photos of the DMZ under the theme of ‘Pyeonghwanuri-gil and Humans’; Wishing for Peace: Flying Dove
Balloons; Pyeonghwanuri-gil Face Painting; Pyeonghwanuri-gil Photocards; and Letters from
the Yeomhagang River Trail.
Other meaningful events have also been prepared
for the environmental conservation of the DMZ. Part of the participation fees
will be donated to the DMZ Environmental Conservation Campaign, and students

3-hour voluntary activity credit.
On the day of the event, the Honorary Ambassadors
of this year’s Pyeonghwanuri-gil Tour, actor Lee Gwang-gi

inspired many disabled people with his successful completion of all 12 courses
(191km) of the Pyeonghwanuri-gil despite his developmental disorder.

One thousand tickets will be sold in order of registration and payment.
