Gyeonggi
Province will host a four-week ‘Global Healthcare Academy’ for Mongolian healthcare
professionals from Ulaanbaatar this October 10 to November 4.
This event
marks to first exchange in the field of medicine between Gyeonggi Province and
Ulaanbaatar since the two regions signed a cooperation MOU on healthcare on
October 20, 2015.
The
delegation will be comprised of nine recommended specialists from the
Department of Health of Ulaanbaatar City in Mongolia and Mongolian National
Hospital No. 1. The selected specialists currently work in
obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, gastro-intestine, cardiothoracic surgery,
and neurosurgery.
The
nine specialists will be assigned to medical institutes across Gyeonggi
Province and receive clinical training featuring medical technology available
in Gyeonggi Province. A total of seven institutes are taking part including the
Catholic University of Korea St. Vincent’s Hospital, SoonChunHyang
University Hospital Bucheon Hospital, Myongji Hospital, Sejong Hospital, Lee Chun
Taek Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, Wiltse Memorial Hospital, and Danwon
Hospital.

Province Health & Welfare Bureau Director General Bae Soo-yong said, “The provincial government
will bolster staff and personnel exchange as well as health policy exchange
beginning with this academy. We also plan to create an even stronger
cooperative relationship in health and medicine with Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia.” Bae added, “We will do our utmost to
attract more local patients while promoting our advanced knowledge in medicine
and technology through this academy program.”
Gyeonggi
Province hosted a previous session of the Global Health Academy for eight
health professionals from three key countries in Central Asia – Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and
Kyrgyzstan – last August.
