consultation sessions worth USD 15.95 million (KRW 19 billion) at Cosmoprof
Asia 2016.

Asia 2016 is widely regarded as one of the three most important exhibitions for
cosmetics and beauty products in the world along with events in Las Vegas in
the US and Bologna in Italy.

2,700 companies and more than 60,000 buyers attended this year’s Cosmoprof Asia, which ran
from November 16 to 18 in a 66,600㎡ exhibition
hall at the Hong Kong Convention Center,
The
Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business
Support Center (GSBC) opened space for Gyeonggi Province and invited 20
up-and-coming beauty companies in Gyeonggi Province to participate. For small
and medium companies that find it difficult to take part in offshore
exhibitions, Gyeonggi Province offered a one-stop service that included
subsidies for booth rental costs, support for booth equipment, and
interpretation.
As a
result, the companies were able to hold 903 export consultation sessions worth
a potential USD 15.95 million and also sign 55 contracts worth USD 757,000 on
the spot. Of particular note, the participating companies expect to sign 167
contracts worth USD 6.16 million within the following year.
One
Gyeonggi official said, “In recent years, the K-BEAUTY brand has been developing
into a high value-added industry that incorporates health, medicine, and
tourism thanks to the rising popularity of Hallyu cultural contents.” The official added, “Gyeonggi Province will
support the beauty and cosmetics industry in Gyeonggi Province to help
companies expand into offshore markets.”
