At 2:00pm on December 6, Gyeonggi Province won the Award
of Excellence in ‘establishing the foundation to transform districts into welfare hubs’ sector at the joint award ceremony
for the 2016 Welfare Administration Awards held at the Central Government
Complex in Sejong City.
The project for ‘establishing the foundation to
transform districts into welfare hubs’ involves creating customized welfare teams at
community service centers in each district. The project offers customized
welfare services by identifying blind spots in welfare systems and carrying out
field visits.
As
part of the initiative, Gyeonggi Province created 247 customized welfare teams at
44% of the 560 districts across the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province
this year.
The provincial
government also offered: monitoring support for the welfare hub project in cities
and counties; financial support of KRW 20 million to each district with newly
established customized welfare teams in each city and county; training for 700 district
heads and customized welfare team leaders; and 220 private case study managers
for support.
Gyeonggi
Province Welfare Policy Division Director Kim Mun-hwan said, “We will continue to find
welfare policies that truly benefit the Gyeonggi people and improve their
quality of living.”
Gyeonggi
Province was selected as the only ‘exemplary’ organization among metropolitan cities/provinces in the ‘Local Social Security
Management Systems’ evaluation of local welfare projects by the Ministry of Health and
Welfare in November.
