Good Morning House is planning to run various winter programs for children during their winter vacation including puppet shows and reading discussion classes.

On January 1st, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will run a children and youth program from January to February. The programs are set to include: a one-night two-day camp, puppet show and puppet making experience, weekend experience activity program for families, and a reading coaching program to help enhance study skills

The one-night two-day camp will be held five times a week, every Wednesday and Thursday, from November 11 to February 22It has been designed for children from vulnerable social groups who have had relatively limited cultural experiences.

Each week, the opportunity to participate in the camp will be allotted to about ten children from vulnerable social groups living in five preselected cities or counties in the province (Paju, Pocheon, Dongducheon, Gapyeong and Yeoncheon). The camp program will consist of watching a puppet show, puppet making experience, participating in quizzes and recreation.

The puppet show and puppet making experience program, which will be held five times during the same period, every Wednesday, will also be for children from vulnerable classes.

For each session, around 50 children from such social groups who have received assistance by local children’s centers will be invited to visit the Good Morning House, watch puppet shows and experience puppet making.

The weekend experience activity program for families will be held on Sundays for a total of seven times from January 8th to February 26th. This program will provide cooking and making experiences to about 60 people from 15 families with children each session.

In the reading coaching course to enhance study skills, students will participate in activities such as book reading, reading discussion and writing articles to which “chavruta”, the well-known Jewish education method, will be utilized.

Chavruta is a traditional Jewish debate education method helping children learn through discussions by pairing them up regardless of age, class, or gender.

This will be a three-day program and will be held from Wednesday to Friday for a total of five times during the period from January 11 to February 24. Children eligible for this program will be those from fourth grade of elementary school to third grade of middle school.

The program is free of charge, and participants are encouraged to bring their old clothes or books to donate to the Beautiful Store.

Application for the one-night two-day camp will be received and processed by each city and county while the sign up for the remaining three programs will begin on the 2nd via the website of the Good Morning House (http://goodmorning-house.com).
