After Goyang Ilsan Techno Valley, Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley, which will lead the development of northern Gyeonggi Province, will break ground on December 5. The 218,000-square-meter Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley will be built as a new growth base in northern Gyeonggi Province, promoting not only the smartization of traditional industries in the region, but also cutting-edge new industries.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley, held in Majeon-dong, Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, was attended by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon, Member of Parliament Jung Sung-ho, Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun, Chairman of the Special Committee for the Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province, and more than 200 officials, including provincial and city councilors, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation President Kim Se-yong, and Gyeonggi residents.

Gov. Kim Dong-yeon said, “Two months ago, I announced the vision for the great development of Northern Gyeonggi Province and expressed my strong commitment to the promotion of the Northern Special Self-Governing Province. The Yangju Techno Valley is the core of this vision. I would like to report to the people of Yangju, the people of Northern Gyeonggi Province and the people of Gyeonggi Province that the vision of the great development of Northern Gyeonggi Province is moving forward step by step.

At the same time, “Yangzhou Techno Valley will lay the foundation for Yangzhou to become a self-sufficient R&D-based innovation city by linking with the urban planning of Okjeong and Hoecheon, the backward areas of Yangzhou, as well as eco-cultural and tourism resources. I hope that the groundbreaking ceremony will create a great momentum for the promotion of the Northern Special Self-Governing Region and the vision of the Northern Great Development to be realized together,” he emphasized.

Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley, a joint project of Gyeonggi Province, Yangju-si and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation, will be built on an area of approximately 218,000 square meters (66,000 pyeong) in Majeon-dong, Yangju City, and will be the largest single urban high-tech industrial complex in northern Gyeonggi Province. With a total project cost of KRW 104 billion, it is being promoted with a target of land delivery in 2024 and completion in 2026. After being selected as the site for the second northern techno-valley in 2017, a joint business implementation agreement was signed in 2019 and the industrial complex plan was approved in 2021.

Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley, which reflects a site dedicated to comprehensive research and development (R&D) among industrial complexes in northern Gyeonggi Province, is expected to become a beacon of great development in northern Gyeonggi Province by fusing information and communication (IT) technology with localized industries in Yangju such as textiles, and promoting cutting-edge new industries such as display and mobility.

It is connected to the nearby Yangju Station Tax Area Urban Development Project and Okjeong New Town, and has excellent access to GTX Deokjeong Station, Yangju Station on Subway Line 1, and the 2nd Ring Expressway. It is expected to contribute to the balanced development of Gyeonggi Province by creating approximately 4,300 jobs, generating KRW 1.886 trillion in production and KRW 443.2 billion in value added.

Gyeonggi Province, Yangju-City and the Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation wished the groundbreaking ceremony a safe and successful construction and plan to establish Gyeonggi Yangju Techno Valley as a new growth base for strategic high-tech industries that will lead the great development of northern Gyeonggi Province by initiating a balanced development between new and old industries.

Meanwhile, at the visioning ceremony of Gyeonggi North Special Self-Governing Province on September 26, Governor Kim Dong-yeon announced that he will open up the future of Korea by unleashing the growth potential through the establishment of Gyeonggi North Special Self-Governing Province and the great development of Gyeonggi North, including Goyang Ilsan Techno Valley and Gyeong Yangju Techno Valley.

Goyang Ilsan Techno Valley, which broke ground on October 26, will be built on an area of 872,000 square meters (about 260,000 pyeong) in Daehae-dong and Beopgot-dong, Ilsan-gu, Goyang City, with a project cost of KRW 850 billion to create a national high-tech strategic industrial park to attract innovative companies in the fields of biomedicine, media and content, and advanced manufacturing.
