Gyeonggi Game Global Week, the largest event of its kind hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government— featuring the Global Conference, New Gyeonggi Game Auditions, and Export Counseling—will be held at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation in Pangyo from October 12 to 16.

Hosted by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and organized by the Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA), the Gyeonggi Game Global Week offers various programs to enhance the brand image of “Gyeonggi Games” and support advancement by provincial game companies into overseas markets. Marking its 4th occasion this year, Gyeonggi Game Global Week will hold the Global Conference and Export Counseling online in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 3-hour Global Conference will be livestreamed from 2 PM on Day 1 (October 12) of Global Week via the official YouTube channel of GCA.

The following topics will be examined during the Global Conference: Global market analysis including market expansion strategies in North America, Europe, Russia, and Greater China; examples of domestic game companies that advanced into overseas markets; and game trends from cross-platforms to cloud games. The presentations will be delivered by six different speakers in three sessions.

On Day 2, the 13th New Gyeonggi Game Audition Finals will be held. Among fifty game teams who made it to the finals, ten will compete for 1st place. Representatives from global game accelerators and publishers will participate as judges to select five teams with the greatest potentials to succeed in global markets.

The top 5 teams will be awarded cash prizes of KRW 20 to 50 million (1st place: one team, KRW 50 million; 2nd place: two teams, KRW 30 million; and 3rd place: two teams, KRW 20 million). They will also be given extra points when applying for relocation to the Gyeonggi Global Game Center (GGC) and benefit from follow-up programs, including QA (game test), sound, translation, and marketing services.

The 7th Game Business Day, an online event for export consultations, will be held from Day 3 to Day 5. Three parties including an applicant, a buyer, and an interpreter will participate in the consultations with buyers categorized by region (Members of the New Southern Policy, Greater China, and North America/Europe) in consideration of their different time schedules.

Through this online business meeting, 45 domestic game companies will have the opportunity to meet with game officials from China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, UAE, and more to examine their overseas export potential.

Future Growth Policy Bureau Director General Lim Moon-young (Gyeonggi Provincial Government) said, “The Gyeonggi Game Global Week is an optimal support program for Gyeonggi companies to step into global markets in during the COVID-19 pandemic when contactless activities are encouraged.” He added, “This event will function as an opportunity for outstanding domestic games to be introduced to overseas game officials and advance into global markets.”
