On July 7, the Gyeonggi Province Disaster and Safety Headquarters conducted a fire-prevention campaign for foreigners in Ansan Multicultural Village.
The Multicultural Village located in Danwon-gu, Ansan City, has approximately 24,000 residents, among whom 21,000 are foreigners. Most of them live in aging houses that are prone to disasters, and there are high concerns about the possible occurrence of fires or other accidents.
On this day, the Disaster and Safety Headquarters carried out a fire-prevention campaign for foreign workers in cooperation with the Ansan Fire Station and the Ansan Volunteer Fire Brigade. During the campaign, self-contained fire alarm devices and fire extinguishers were installed in 100 households of foreign residents.
Campaign volunteers distributed fire-prevention leaflets and brochures to foreign workers and encouraged them to pay more attention to fire safety.
In accordance with regulations on the installation of fire protection equipment for residential buildings, each divided space within a building, such as bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens, should be equipped with a self-contained fire alarm device and a fire extinguisher. Also, one or more fire extinguishers should be installed in every household or on every floor.
