Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator (GBSA) announced on July 7 that they are implementing the “AWS Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Specialist Training Course” to connect people with jobs in the AI and big data fields.

In order to lay a human resource foundation for future industries in Gyeonggi Province through the cultivation of artificial intelligence and big data professionals, the province plans to train 20 specialists on a pilot basis in cooperation with Amazon Web Services (AWS), a global big technology company, and will expand the project next year.

This training will commence in July at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Training Center (East Tower, Teheran-ro, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul) and the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (Dawangpangyo-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do).

The curriculum is divided into Beginner Operator (AI/ML Technician), Intermediate Technician (AI/ML Engineer), Field Expert (AI/ML Meister), and Online Course (Skill Builder) through self-paced learning courses that provide more than 500 content items.

The training is completely free of charge, and trainees who complete at least 80% of the training hours will receive a certificate of completion signed by the President of the Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator. Upon completion of the program, trainees will be given the opportunity to work as specialists in the field of AI and big data through job fairs with AWS partners.

In addition to training, this project will provide AWS employment specialty classes, mentoring for participants, and support for AWS certification fees. For a one-year period after training completion, job seekers will be actively supported through the provision of information on employment at companies in the AI and big data fields in Gyeonggi Province.

Gyeonggi Province residents who are interested in the AI and big data fields and want to work can apply by July 14. Applications and detailed course information can be found on the Gyeonggi Province website (gg.go.kr) and the dedicated training management site (it-study.co.kr).

Lee Soo-jae, Director of the AI Big Data Industry Division, said, “As of last year, Gyeonggi Province has fostered more than 600 AI industry workers… By continuing to train talented people who will lead the future of the industry, we will strive to help companies in the AI and big data fields secure human resources.”
