Gyeonggi Province was selected as the 2023 grand prize winner in the 2nd tier government category through an evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the implementation results of the Community Safety Plan, winning the grand prize for a fourth consecutive year.
According to the evaluation of the implementation results of the Fourth Community Safety Plan undertaken by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, these achievements were attributed to excellence in community participation and public-private partnerships, as well as to efforts to achieve balanced development.
Gyeonggi Province received an “A” in all six evaluation criteria set by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, including adherence to the plan, appropriateness of the implementation process, excellence of the implementation results, participation/satisfaction levels of local residents and public-private partnerships, balanced development efforts, and efforts to manage projects and strengthen capabilities.
Specifically, the Ministry of Health and Welfare evaluated in terms of the participation and satisfaction levels of local residents and public-private partnerships, stating, “We actively cooperated with cities, counties, and municipalities to diversify participation channels for local residents, and proposed 32 policies discovered through Gyeonggi Welfare Governance, of which 13 were selected, showing a high policy reflection rate of 40.6%.”
Regarding the “Balanced Development Efforts” category, the Ministry of Health and Welfare said, “By operating the Community Security Balanced Power Plant to support balanced development, Gyeonggi is actively supporting community security not only at the provincial level but also at the municipal level, which is an exemplary practice that can be presented to other local governments.
With this award, Gyeonggi Province has received the highest grade for four consecutive years since 2020, proving its ability to lead the nation in welfare governance. In particular, the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s evaluation revealed that the Gyeonggi Welfare Governance and Community Security Balanced Power Plant Project, managed by the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation, are essential.
Won Mi-jeong, CEO of the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation, said, “As the welfare think tank of Gyeonggi Province, the Gyeonggi Welfare Foundation strives to identify welfare policies that closely respond to the needs of Gyeonggi residents and the changing times, and to promote the balanced development of the 31 counties,” adding, “This award recognizes the excellence of Gyeonggi Province’s social security policies aimed at providing richer and fairer opportunities.”
