Gwangju City of Gyeonggi Province operates ‘Happy Job Café for Marriage Immigrants’
The Happy Job Café for Marriage Immigrants, which has been operating for the past two years, aims to support marriage immigrants who have become members of their local communities by providing personalized job search assistance to facilitate their economic independence and enable them to live stable lives in Korea.
The Happy Job Café operates at the Gwangju Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center for two hours from 2 pm on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month until the end of the year.
To provide marriage immigrants with employment support appropriate to their individual circumstances, career advisers of the Gwangju New Job Center for Women are dispatched to the café. They offer job information to marriage immigrants through 1:1 counseling and connect them with vocational training to enhance their job skills.
A city official stated, “Although demand for the employment of marriage immigrants is increasing day by day, it is not easy for them to find work due to communication difficulties and a general lack of information. We hope that this program will help them overcome such difficulties.”
