Gyeonggi Province will be the first local government to stage a large-scale tourism promotion road show in Vietnam jointly with other public and private organizations in celebration of 25 years of Korean-Vietnamese diplomatic relations.
Gyeonggi Province formed a tourism promotion delegation comprised of 36 delegates from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and tourism industries of the province’s cities and counties. This delegation will visit Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh with members of the Hanoi office of the Korea Tourism Organization from May 28 to June 2.
Vietnam is a market of considerable potential for Korea since it is the source of the second highest number of tourists to visit Korea and exhibited 54.5% growth in the number of such tourists compared to 2016. A representative of Gyeonggi Province explained that the provincial government planned this roadshow to diversify and develop new markets in light of the decrease in the number of Chinese tourists.
The tourism promotion delegation of Gyeonggi Province will build partnerships with the local travel agencies by holding B2B consulting meetings and Friendship Night events while it is in Vietnam so as to publicize those Korean tourism resources preferred by Vietnamese tourists such as K-drama filming sites, theme parks, ski resorts, accommodations, and DIY experiences.
First, the delegation will have B2B consultation meetings with major local travel agencies in two of the largest cities in Vietnam, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh, on May 30 and June 1 respectively. It will then host Friendship Night events with the invitation of approximately 90 representatives from the local tourism industry, airlines, and mass media.
During the Friendship Night events held in each region, the delegation will create networks among the participants from local travel agencies, mass media, and airlines, and stage a nonverbal performance that conveys a message welcoming visitors to Korea while celebrating 25 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam.
Furthermore, family members of the famous Vietnamese celebrity Huykhan will be appointed as honorary ambassadors of Gyeonggi Province during the Friendship Night of Gyeonggi Province and Ho Chi Minh on June 1.

The family members of Huykhan recorded a Vietnamese version of the variety show Oh! My Baby at major tourist attractions of Gyeonggi Province in May for a special showcasing Korea. This show will air June 4 on major TV channels in Ho Chi Mihn and Hanoi including HTV2 and VTVCA1.
