On April 5, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization (Gyeonggi MICE Bureau) selected the Yangpyeong International Guitar Forum, the Bucheon Asia Animation Forum, the Ansan International Symposium for Street Arts, and the Gapyeong K-pop Forum as beneficiary events of the 2018 Gyeonggi Province Local MICE Event Support Project.
The Local MICE Event Support Project is a MICE-nurturing system designed to financially support events pre-selected amongst currently successful events or newly launched international meetings that take place in one of the 31 cities and counties of the Gyeonggi Province, allocating a maximum of KRW 50 million.
The province held city/county competitions last March, during which 4 of the 6 contestant cities/counties were selected according to the relevance of the event theme to local industry, growth potential as an international event, and the event’s sustainability and growth as a local convention.
Gyeonggi Province is expected to allocate KRW 30 million each to the Yangpyeong International Guitar Forum and the Bucheon Asia Animation Forum as they are in the “nurturing level.” Meanwhile, the Ansan International Symposium for Street Arts and the Gapyeong Kpop Forum, being in the “incubating level,” will each receive KRW 20 million in financial support.
The Yangpyeong International Guitar Forum, which has now been selected for two consecutive years, will open its doors for a 2-day forum in the Yangpyeong Sunny Forest Camp this August 15 and 19. This forum will be a venue for discussions about the current situation and development of Asia’s guitar music industry. Other diverse events are also scheduled such as international guitar competitions.
The 6th Bucheon Asia Animation Forum will take place on October 22 and 23 at KOMACON. Featuring discussions on such subjects as animation technology, as well as the industry’s viewpoint and aesthetics in terms of animation, this forum is the largest academic event related to animation in Asia.
Ansan’s Media Library will host the Ansan International Symposium for Street Arts from May 4 to 7. As an event held in relation with the Ansan Street Arts Festival, this year the symposium will explore ways to develop Ansan as a representative city of Asian street arts.
The Gapyeong Kpop Forum is a sub-event of the Red Angel K-pop concert. On this occasion, forums featuring invited K-pop experts from home and abroad, educational programs and more are scheduled to take place at the Bridge Midas Resort from July 13 to 15.
