“Excessive intake of saltysweet food can cause health problems. We are providing diet education to 300 seniors on a trial basiswill gradually expand the program to include more seniors.”
Gyeonggi Province also plans to perform regular food inspections for sodium content at senior facilities in the province. The primary objective of the senior dietary improvement programto encourage seniors to avoid an unhealthy diet through self-control.
Article 2. Gyeonggi Taxi Drivers Volunteer as Road Pothole Reporters (0428)

Potholes on paved roads are often the cause of road accidents that sometimes lead to serious consequences. As the monsoon season nears, Gyeonggi Province invited taxi drivers to form a volunteer pothole reporting squad for the timely repair of damaged road surfaces.

Establishment of Gyeonggi Road Monitoring Squad
In order to help maintain safe road surfaces, the Gyeonggi Taxi Company Association signed an agreement with Gyeonggi Province for the formation of a volunteer road monitoring squad.

Three hundred taxi drivers responded to the invitationGyeonggi Provincejoined the squad as pothole monitors.

Warm & Blessed Taxi Operation Agreement
Gyeonggi Province signed an agreement with taxi operators for expanded operation of the service.

This taxi operation project began for more than a hundred remote villages in six regions of the provincewill be expanded to include more areas based on the results.

Following the recent increase in sex-related incidents involving seniors, Gyeonggi Province began a community-based sex education program so as to promote healthy sexual practicesrelationships among senior citizens.

Education will be provided locally on a community basiswill focus on promoting healthy sexual relationshipspractices. Instructors will also introduce actual cases including those in which senior romances had positive effects on medical conditions such as depression.

In addition to class-based education, individual sexual consultation services will also be provided upon request. Gyeonggi Province’s sex education for seniors will help healthy families in the province.
Article 5. Gyeonggi Hospital Dementia Education & Information Network (0430)

Nine medical facilities in Gyeonggi Province recently formed a network for effective communicationeducation management regarding dementia.

There are 112,000 dementia patients in Gyeonggi Province, accounting for 19 percent of the national total. Management of dementia requires specialized personnel since its causes, symptoms,treatments differ with every patient.

Six provincialthree municipal hospitals in Gyeonggi Province signed an agreement to share dementia education information. They will also act as regional centers for education that will provided at forty-five local health centers in the province.

According to doctors, the progress of dementia can be effectively delayed when diagnosed early, but most patients try to hide or ignore their conditionseek medical treatment only after the condition has progressed significantly. Thatwhat these hospitals hope to remedy through associated efforts.
Article 6. Preliminary Social Enterprise Designation Gyeonggi Province (0427)

Gyeonggi Province has been providing business startupmarketing support for social enterprises. Since last year, the provincial government has also provided support for such businesses even in their preliminary stages.

Gyeonggi Province has designated 237 preliminary social enterprises as recipients of such support to date.

Seventy-seven candidates applied for preliminary social enterprise designation this year. Final ion results will be announced at theof May based on on-site evaluations. Designated enterprises will receive monetary support for product developmentimprovement.

This years Gyeonggi International Ceramic Biennale opened on April 24 at three venues in the cities of Icheon (이천), Gwangju (광주)Yeoju (여주). Each venue features a variety of programs in a different color scheme representing different ceramic genres. Our reporter examined the details.
