Since his return from a trip to Liberia in East Africa, the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, a local public health center has been monitoring Kim’s health every day since the Ebola virus is latent for up to three weeks.
When he develops weakness, headaches or diarrhea, he contacts the public health center and is placed under the care of a hospital nationally designated for the isolation of this disease.

Ebola Case Simulation for Containment and Prevention
The meeting began with a case simulation video that featured Kim as an Ebola patient.
Participants from sixteen hospitals as well as public and private health organizations in Gyeonggi Province then had in-depth discussions to identify issues and solutions for each stage from patient transportation to isolation and treatment.

During the discussions, which were led by Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil, suggestions were also made for the avoidance of unnecessary social anxiety.
The Ebola virus is only transmitted through person-to-person contact, not through the air, and is not contagious until symptoms occur.
Following the meeting, the use of quarantine garments for epidemic specialists was demonstrated.

“I think that simulation-based training for the prevention of infectious diseases is an effective way to safeguard the lives and safety of people when outbreaks of such diseases occur.”
Gyeonggi Province is determined to establish an effective tem for the prevention of Ebola outbreaks through simulation trainings and close monitoring of travelers from the affected regions.
Article 2. Gyeonggi Province Subsidizes Farm Machine Insurance Premiums (1202-2)

Last year, 9.5 percent of farm machines in Gyeonggi Province were involved in accidents. However, only 5 percent of them were protected by insurance. In order to promote farm machine insurance, Gyeonggi Province decided to reduce farmers’ premium payment portions to half of the current rates from next year.

A year ago, Lee was driving a tractor on a narrow pathway between rice fields when his tractor skidded and tipped over.
Apart from the rib fractures he suffered, his tractor required repair services that cost KRW 10 million.
However, all repair costs were paid by his farm machine insurance.

“Of course insurance is helpful, because it covers all costs. If I hadn’t had insurance, it would have cost me KRW 10 million.”
The insurance premium Lee paid last year was only KRW 140,000.
Farm Machine Insurance Rate in Gyeonggi Province: 4.9%
This amount was after a deduction of KRW 100,000 paid by the Korean government.
However, only 4.9 percent of farm machines are currently insured; most farmers still consider the current farmer’s portion of farm machine insurance premiums too high, and are reluctant to subscribe.

“For this tractor, for example, the annual insurance premium is KRW 300,000, but farmers may only pay KRW 150,000. However, from next year, the farmers’ premium payment portion will be reduced to only KRW 70,000.”

From next year, farmers will be provided with provincial support for farm machine insurance premium payments, which will further reduce the farmer’s payment portion from 50 to 25 percent.

“We targeted the insurance of 7,000 machines in 2015 and 25,000 machines by 2018, which is 18% of total of 140,000 machines.”
Farm machine insurance is available for twelve types of machines. Subion applications are being received at local agricultural and livestock cooperative offices.
Article 3. Remarkable Performance of Gyeonggi Technology Doctor Program (1203-2)

Five years ago, Gyeonggi Province launched the Technology Doctor Program to provide small and medium enterprises with technology development support. These services have since helped enterprises resolve technology issues in more than two thousand cases.

Technology Doctor services range from on-site technical supervision by specialists to financial support for research and linkage with other support programs.
Technology Doctor Program Used KRW 10.3 Billion
To Support 2,108 Enterprises in 2,745 Technology Development Cases
Over the past five years, this program has spent KRW 10.3 billion to support 2,108 enterprises in 2,745 technology development cases.

Article 4. Gyeonggi Province to Create 180,000 New Social Service Jobs (1202-1)

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will create 180,000 new social service jobs so as to provide increased employment opportunities to social minorities including seniors, individuals with disabilities and women resuming interrupted careers.
