‘A Special Outing of Lady Giseong and Prince Seonseong of Joseon Dynasty’
More than fifty costume items and relics, which were found at an excavation site in 2008,are being displayed at this exhibition after having been cleaned and restored.
Royal Costumes of Early Joseon Dynasty
This exhibition is also the first of its kind to feature early Joseon royal costumes, and serves as a showcase of part of the evolution of royal costumes during the Joseon (조선) period.

“The early attire is fairly large. One may wonder if they were actually worn or just wrapped. Their sizes became smaller later in the period, and their patterns and shapes also changed over time, which is a point I recommend viewers examine…”
This exhibition shows how royal costumes changed throughout the Joseon (조선) period, and enables one to appreciate that even traditional attire is influenced by the fashion of the time.
Article 2. East Gyeonggi Regions Green Lighted for Economic Development (1111-3)

The eastern regions of Gyeonggi Province have been hampered by numerous development regulations and restrictions. However, there is a sign that the situation may change. Our reporter examined the details.

Pine trees are being removed from this tree farm in Icheon (이천) City of Gyeonggi Province for transplantation at other sites. This is because a fashion industrial complex will be established on the60,000-square-meter site that includes this farm.

Industrial and Housing Complexes Planned in Eastern Gyeonggi Province
5 Development Plans Approved by Seoul-Gyeonggi Development Committee
Five proposed development plans in eastern Gyeonggi Province have recently been approved by the central government of Korea.
[CG]In addition to three industrial complexes, two housing complexes will also be developed on sites totaling 130,000 square meters in Gwangju (광주) City.

More than KRW 400 billion will be invested in the development of the two housing complexes by 2017.The housing shortages in these regions will be significantly alleviated with the introduction of a total of 2,062 new apartments.

The development of five industrial and housing complexes in eastern Gyeonggi Province with a total investment of KRW 436 billion is expected to create hundreds of new jobs and boost the local economies of these regions.
Article 3. Gyeonggi Province Plans 9,000Ton Unpeeled Rice Buy-in (1112-2)

Korea had another bumper harvest of rice this year. In order to protect the interests of farmers, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government plans to purchase 9,000 tons of unpeeled rice to stabilize rice prices.

A stream of 800-kilogram sacks of polished rice arrive at the delivery depot of a rice mill in Anseong (안성) City. Rice production in Anseong increased by 15 percent this year. However, farmers are not overly happy since rice prices hang in the balance.

[CG]The Korean government estimates this year’s national rice production to be 4.18 million tons, and decided to segregate the surplus amount from the market through purchases.
Gyeonggi Province Plans to Purchase 9,062 Tons
Gyeonggi Province will purchase 9,062 tons at tentative prices until the end of next month to cover 5 percent of the national surplus.
Final prices will be determined by Statistics Korea based on the national average in January next year.
Class 1 Rice to Be Purchased at KRW 52,000 per 40 kg
Payment will be made in advance at predetermined prices– for example, KRW 52,000 for a 40-kilogram-bag of Class-1 rice–to help farmers avoid financial difficulties.

Budget for Disaster and Safety Management Increased to KRW 313.6 billion
The budget for disaster and safety management was increased by KRW 110 billion to KRW 313.6 billion for the expansion and effective management of facilities and manpower.
Job creation and the improvement of social infrastructure will also be supported extensively.
2015 Gyeonggi Province Annual Budget to be Finalized in Mid-December
The final budget of Gyeonggi Province for next year will be made official in mid-December after approval by the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly.

Two hundred and fifty volunteers gathered together in the quad to participate in Gimjang (김장), or kimchi-making for the winter. They are busy applying kimchi marinade in between salted cabbage leaves. Some of the volunteers are from multicultural families.

Through laughs and good will, 4,000 heads of cabbage passed through the hands of volunteers to be made into kimchi and packed in boxes today.

Kimchi Delivered to 1,200 Solitary Seniors and Welfare Facilities
The boxes of kimchi were delivered to 1,200 homes of economically underprivileged neighbors, including solitary seniors and welfare facilities, who responded with gratitude.

Article 6. Gapyeong Pine Nut Tree Forest Highest in Phytoncide (1113-3)

A pine nut tree forest in Gapyeong (가평) County of Gyeonggi Province was found to be highest in phytoncide generation. Phytoncide is a generic term for antimicrobial compounds produced by plants. It is known to have therapeutic effects on humans.

Phytoncide is produced by some plants to protect them from microorganisms. It is also known to ease stress and enhance immunity in humans.

This forest resort in Gapyeong (가평) County has the highest phytoncide measurement in Gyeonggi Province.
Phytoncide Level Highest (1.44μg/Cu. M) among 15 Forest Resorts
The phytoncide level in this forest was 1.44 micrograms per cubic meter, the highest among fifteen forest resorts in Gyeonggi Province.

Pine Nut Trees Account for 95% of 1.53Million-Square-Meter Forest
Pine nut trees are one of the most active phytoncide producers. Ninety-five percent of this forest, which is equivalent to 200 football fields, is covered with pine nut trees;46,000 of them are more than eighty years old.
There are many individuals who claim that they have benefited from regular visits to this phytoncide-rich forest.

Gyeonggi Province now plans to promote the pine nut tree forest of Gapyeong (가평) so that more residents can benefit from the healing powers of the forest.
Promotional efforts will include the installation of phytoncide level indicators and the development of healing programs.
Article 7. International Medical Services Help Gyeonggi Provincial Economy (1113-1)

In Korea, the international medical service industry, otherwise known as medical tourism, has grown to such an extent that internationally famous individuals visit Korea for medical treatment, new job types have emerged, and the local economy has been boosted.

Sehong General Hospital, Bucheon
The number of foreign patients at this general hospital in Bucheon (부천) City of Gyeonggi Province has grown more than four times over the past four years.
Many of them are from Russia and Mongolia, but they feel at home because special personnel guide them through medical processes in their own languages.

They are international medical coordinators trained in Gyeonggi Province as medical tourism specialists.

[Partial CG]International medical services began to grow rapidly from 2010. In Gyeonggi Province, the number of related new jobs grew by more than 50 percent last year alone.
Ripple Effects Encompass Surrounding Businesses
The ripple effects of this boom are encompassing local businesses including accommodation providers and restaurants. Some lodgings are now receiving foreign customers exclusively.

Many shops are hiring foreign language-speaking employees.
The growing international medical service industry is creating new jobs as well as new job types.
It is also becoming part of the driving force of the local economy.
