Article 1. Design Donations to Small EnterprisesStudents (1216-2)

Small enterprises often encounter difficulties in promoting their products due to financial limitations in the development of competitive designs that are crucial for sales promotion.
To help address this problem, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government secured cooperationuniversities earlier this year.

1) Commercial Design ExhibitionAspiring Designers
Cooperation was actualized when students of participating universities held an exhibition of their designs for real products.
One such design for tableware combines characters with stylish calligraphy as a brand identity that can easily be modifiedapplied to new products.
Another design for ready-made food packages with a new brand name provides functionalityan image of freshness.
Rangingpackage designs to leafletscompany logos, each design engenders improved images of the productstheir manufacturers.

“Our students also benefited a lotthis projectlearning how to theorize their ideashow to communicate them effectively.
3) Cooperation Agreements for “Design Sharing Project” (June 4th)
This design project was introduced at a number of universities with design departments in Gyeonggi Province under a cooperation agreement signed with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government in June this year.
A total of 112 designs shown at this exhibition will be donated to the manufacturers of the products concerned free of charge.

“We are going to organize regular meetings between studentscompany personnel next year so as to obtain more practical outcomes…”
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government also plans to expand this Design Sharing Project to allow a larger number of enterprises to benefit.

Article 2. Gyeonggi Province Publicly Discloses Tax Defaulters List (1217-2)

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government released a list of habitual tax delinquents to the public. This list includes the names of those who are in default for large amounts of taxes over prolonged periods of time.

This measure was taken after the Gyeonggi Provincial Government decided that the scale of tax delinquencytoo large for its Tax Delinquency Teams to handle effectively.
1) 4,000 Tax Delinquents Publically Listed
In Gyeonggi Province, the number of tax payers who are in arrears of taxes for more than KRW 30 million for longer than two yearsapproximately four thousand, greater than last yearnearly nine hundred.
2) Cho Sang-hyeong / Leader of Gyeonggi Province Tax Delinquency Team 1
“The increase in the number of tax delinquentsmainly due to the increase in business closures which, we believe, reflects recent economic difficulties facedbusinesses.“
The total amount of tax owedthose on the listapproximately KRW 620 billion.

Half of them are in their fortiesfifties, each with more than KRW 200 million in outstanding taxes on average. The listed persons include entrepreneurs, politiciansentertainers.

“There are respectable society leaders who are expected to show exemplary conduct,thatwhy we decided to release the list to the public.”
Those who are included on the list will be bannedoverseas travelsubjected to credit penalties.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government also plans to impose strict measures on those who deliberatelyillegally dodge tax payments.

Article 3. Gyeonggi Designates “Good Shops” in Traditional Markets (1218-2)

As part of its traditional market promotion policies, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government introduced the “Good Shop” designation program to induce more consumers to traditional markets that are struggling to survive competition with large supermarket chains.

1) Motgol Market, Suwon City
This shop in a traditional market in Suwon (수원) City specializes in decorative food used during traditional Korean wedding ceremonies. Its owneronly prepares food herself, she also provides cooking classes for her customers.
2) Yoon Deok-ae / Owner of Korean Wedding Food Shop
“Aged people still find traditional markets more comfortable. But we hope to see more young peopleshow them what we can offer.”
3) Seongnam Central Market
This market in Seongnam (성남) Cityfamous for its Gangwon (강원) Province food shops. These shops are popular among locals as well as foreign visitors.
4) Gwon Yeong-sam / Head of the Gangwon Food Merchant Association
“We have customers fromover the country. From everywhere. A Japanese customer just spent three hundred thousand won. They come every day in groups.”
These shops are the ones that induce consumers to their markets.
For the first time in Korea, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government ed ten such shops in traditional marketsdesignated them as “Good Shops”.
These shops will be provided with financial support for refurbishments for three years as well as support for managementpublic relations.
5) Kim Gang-gyu / Gyeonggi Province Small Business Policy Advisor
“Support will be provided in phases. We will also provide them with supervisionstrategic support to maximize their contributions to the traditional markets.”
The Good Shops are ed based on public recognitioncompetitiveness as well as their potential to contribute to the livelihood of traditional markets.

Article 4. Gyeonggi Promotes New Address System (1216-3)

From next year, the address tem in Korea will change to a street number-based tem.
To minimize confusion among members of public who have long been accustomed to the present area number-based tem, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government intensified its promotion campaign.

“We are advertising the new address tem through every possible public relations channel including cable TV stationspublic transportation. We are also working with commercial organizations to ensure the use of the new tem in the business sector.”

Article 5. Family Consultants Conference on 2013 Case Review (1216-1)

Family consultants in Gyeonggi Province gathered together to review their year’s work.
During the past eight months, a total of 110 consultation service requests for family issues have been filed at family-related public organizations in Gyeonggi Province.

Among these family consultation cases, thirty three were about conflicts between spousesforty eight concerned problems facedchildren in families with parental feuds.
1) Family Consultants Conference on 2013 Case Review (December 16th)
During the conference, participants shared information about consultation programs for family, parents,children that were designed to prevent family breakdown.
2) Children with Divorced Parents Benefited MostConsultation Services.
It was revealed during the conference that the children of divorced parents benefited mostfamily consultation services in overcoming psychological trauma.
3) Jeong Seok-jin / Director, Sewon Children Consultation Center
“Eighty five percent responded that the consultations were helpful. Many expressed that the explanations of divorce were especially helpful.”
The conference began with presentations of consultation cases followeddiscussions on how to improve consultation programs based on experience.
4) Lee Seung-joo / Chief of Family Support Team, Gyeonggi Women’s Vision Center
“We plan to expand our drawing therapygroup therapy facilities. We also plan to provide visiting services to those living in isolated areas.”
While most of individuals with family problems are unwilling to come forwardseek specialist help, family consultation services will continue to help more of them restore family happiness.

Article 6. Celebrities Donate Personal Items for Charity Auction (1217-1)

Online charity auctions that featured personal items donatedseventeen Korean celebrities who have served as Gyeonggi Province Public Relations Ambassadors closed recently after a one-week run.

For these charity auctions, celebrities donated various personal items including shoes, clothes, baseball caps,sporting goods.

On December 10th, the charity auctions started simultaneously on the Gyeonggi Province homepagethe website Auction, one of the largest shopping portal sites in Korea.

A baseball cap that was worna member of the very popular K-pop group Taeyeon (태연) sold for KRW 765,000, a gold club usedpopular professional female golfer Choi Na-yeon (최나연) sold for KRW 220,000.
3) Proceeds of Auctions Donated to Muhandolbom Welfare Projects
All proceedsthe auctions, which amounted to more than KRW 4 million, will be donated to Muhandolbom (무한돌봄) welfare projects.

Organizedthe Gyeonggi Provincial Governmentattracting a total of 387 online bids, the charity auctions featuring the personal items of Korean celebrities drew enormous public interest.
