In April this year, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government launched the Carnation House project with the objective of providing a better living environment for seniors who need assistanceprotection.
So far, four Carnation Houses have opened as pilot operations.

Launchedthe provincial government in cooperation with other organizations, Carnation Houses offer a variety of programs including dance, yoga, dementia prevention exercises,physical therapy sessions.

Carnation Houses serve as living areas,kitchens, work placesand classroomscombined.

So far, four Carnation Houses have opened including this one in Anyang (안양) city, with the latest one opening in Icheon (이천) City.

Article 2.Non-schooling Youths’ Festival (1210-1)

There are still a number youths who quit school prematurely for various reasonsin Korea, even though they have as much potential as any other youths at school.
In order to help them, the Gyeonggi Youth Center organized a special festivalprovided them with an opportunity to show their talents.

Youths are busy preparing for the show at the booths in the Youth Center hall.
Each booth showcases the talents of youths who honed skills rangingballoon art to woodcraft that they learned in special programs offeredthe center for non-schooling youths.
Jang Eun-ji (장은지)is one of them.

”It wasn’t difficult when I just had to follow the teacher’s instructions, but it was difficult to teach others myself. But it was fun.”

This festivala rare opportunity for these youthsto enjoy festivities, since they haven’t had chances to participate in school festivalsevents as their friends had.

This festival was organized as part of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government’s non-schooling youth support project.

Through the festival, the youths enjoyed showcasing their talents.
They also became more aware that they arealonethat people care about them.
Article 3. World’s Traditional Musical Instruments(1211-1)

The Seongnam (성남) Art Center announced that it opened the World Musical Instrument Museum on November 25th.
This museum features various types of traditional musical instruments that the center has collectedaround the world.

Most of these instruments were donatedlocals through cultural organizations.

TheHouse Call Health Service program isoperated in Gyeonggi Province for seniors who live alone. The quality of their lives has become an important social issue since the number of solitary seniorsgrowing in the province.

An employment forum was heldin Suwon (수원) City of Gyeonggi Provinceto discuss current employment issues in the province. Our reporter was there.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government has been seeking ways to promote employmentto achieve its targeted employment rate of 70 percent through various endeavors such as job fairs, employment expos, vocational education programsemployment services for university studentshigh school graduates as well aswomenseniors.

Article 6.First ‘Contents Korea Lab’Opens in Gyeonggi Province (1210-2)

Gyeonggi Province became the host of the first Contents Korea Lab, a contents business incubationproject of the Ministry of Science, ICTFuture Planning of Korea.

The first residency of this first Contents Korea Lab was awarded to an idea called ‘Bubble’Island Factory.
The ministry will a total of fifteen such labs in Korea as a trial project,will provide financial support to ed digital content ideas for the development of their ideas into marketable products.

On December 11th, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government invited representatives of foreign-investedenterprisesto the 2013 Foreign Investors’ Day ceremony.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government has been providing foreign investors with a variety of support to help them securely settle in the province. Some of the early comers,this Korean-German joint venture company, are returning the favorcontributing to their local communities.
