The second ‘CreativityHumanity Education Sharing Exhibition’ organizedthe Gyeonggi Provincial Administration was held on the 6th7th of September. This year’s event was held under the theme of ‘Add Imagination, Divide Wisdom,Multiply Hope’. A GTV reporter was there.

“We need to develop the methods of education in such a way that maximize the dreamspotential of youths.”
With the abundance of historical assets as well as culturaleducational resources, Gyeonggi Province hopes to lead the nation in transforming the conventional, lecture-based classroom education to a more effective experiential education.

A movie theater exclusively for seniors which opened last December in Ansan (안산) City of Gyeonggi Provincegaining popularity among elderly citizens. The second of its kind in Korea following the one in Seoul, this cinemaone of the officially designated social enterprises.

Ginsengknown to have its best quality when harvested in mid October. However, some of the ginseng farmers in major ginseng producing regions in Gyeonggi province are heaving since their ginseng plants were hita spreading of blight.

With harvesting season only weeks ahead after years of growing, the leaves of ginseng plants in this farm in Paju (파주) city turned black. Some even developed a white fluffy fungus. The culpritgray mold.
2) Gray Mold Can Damage Entire Plant
Gray mold can damage leavesseeds as well as roots of ginseng. Having already lost a good portion of ginseng plants due to hot temperatures during the summer, farmers are now almost devastated byto witness years of their hard work simply turn into nothing.
3) Choi Ju-chan / Afflicted Ginseng Farmer
“Gray mold has spread widely. I am very worried because it can damage the stems turning them into a gel. I hope that we can salvage the roots before it’s too late.”
According to a recent survey, gray mold has spread ten times over the past three months since early June.
4) Humidity IncreaseHeavy Rainfall Caused Gray Mold Spreading
The agricultural research institute of Gyeonggi Province confirmed that the onset of the disease was triggeredhigh humidity after the heavy rainfall.

Article 5. Suwon Hwaseong Restoration History Exhibition (0911-3)

Suwon’s Hwaseong (수원화성) Fortress has been undergoing restoration since 1973. Marking the 40th year of the restoration project this year, a special exhibitionbeing held in Suwon Hwaseong (수원화성) Museum to show to the public the history of the restoration of the fortress whichone of the ‘World Cultural Heritages’.

A miniature replica of the grand main gate of Suwon Hwaseong (수원화성), through which the king of Korea’s Choseon Dynasty passed, attracts the attention of the viewers.

The exhibition shows every detail of the materials used for planning including the very first drafts of drawings, as well as the records of measurementsthe progress of actual restoration work.

In one corner of the exhibition hall, a video clipshown featuring those who actually participated in the beginning of the work. Their voices recorded at the time vividly convey the enthusiasm of those involved.

Article 6. Gyeonggi Governor Kim Visits Muhandolbom Site (0911-2)

‘Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo (김문수)’ visited the homes of the subjects of Mu-han-dol-bom (무한돌봄) welfare services. Mu-han-dol-bom (무한돌봄), or limitless caring,a generic term that encompasses various customized welfare service programs for individuals in underprivileged conditions.

4) House of Solitary Seniors, Anyang City
Governor Kim also visited ‘Carnation House’, a home for solitary seniors. Most of them werea life with few pleasures doing repetitive part-time jobs. Their faces also lit up as they talked with Governor Kim.

“There are many families in economically difficult situations, I hope to see that these individuals will receive substantial benefitsour welfare programs.”
The welfare programs of Gyeonggi Province are geared to helping underprivileged individualssharing.
Article 7. Gyeonggi 20-60 Job Fair (0911-3)

There are a growing number of aged job seekers in Korea. To address the increasing demand for employment opportunities, the Gyeonggi Provincial Administration organized a large-scale job fair foragestheir 20s to 60s. A GTV reporter was there.

A large number of job searchers inages visited this employment promotion event, called the ‘Gyeonggi 20-60 Job Fair’,

Among high school students in school uniforms, a middle-aged woman practices introducing herself,others try to perfect their resumes relying on magnifying glasses. From job interviews to employment consultations, they are as enthusiastic as any youths.

There are also young applicants. Many of them are very nervous because they have never taken an aptitude test or had a job interview before.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Administration plans to hold 20 more all-age job fairsthis until theof this year. It reflects the growing need for employment among older generations.
