Article 1. Illegal Incineration of Waste Fabrics Uncovered (0805-2)

A number of fabric dying factories were caughtthe ‘Gyeonggi Special Judicial Police’ in the act of burning illegal fuel containing high doses of toxic chemicals, including dioxin, a first-class carcinogen.

[Report]
Somethingburning in this dying factory in Yangju (양주), as we can see smoke coming out of this factory. Inside, there are mountains of trash; most of them are discarded clothesscraps of fabricsplastics.

1) Illegal Burning of Waste FabricsTrash
Incineration of large amounts of plasticsbanned in Korea because it generates toxic gases. However, this factory has been using discarded clothesplastics as the fuel for its machines without permission. They saved two billion Korean won in fuel costs annuallyusing trash that cost them only one eighth of the cost of normal bunker-C oil.

2) Emission of Dioxin
The problemburning such illegal fuel, generates a massive amount of dioxin.

“A large amount of contaminants, including dioxin, must have been emittedthis factory into the atmosphere. These contaminants are extremely hazardous for both humansthe environment.”

Another dying factory was also found burning fifteen times larger than the legal amount of a similar fuel. The ‘Gyeonggi Special Judicial Police’ uncovered four dying factories as well as forty nine unlicensed waste fabric dealers usingsupplying the illegal fuel.

“Those who supplied large amounts of trash, other than waste fabrics, will be subject to further investigation for additional violations. We will continue our crackdown to safeguard our environment.”

The ‘Gyeonggi Provincial Administration’ also plans to investigate the operation of waste incineration facilities for possible links with illegal fuel dealings.

Article 2. Healing Program for Gyeonggi Call Center Consultants (0806-1)

The consultants at the ‘Gyeonggi Call Center’ are often distressedthe callers who use foul languageeven sexual harassment. To address their difficulties, a healing program will be introduced to help alleviate their mental stresses.

The worst ones are sexual harassment in which the caller even demands that the consultant call him back.

A caller made as many as 4,500 calls since last year, interfering with the work of consultants greatly.

1) Over 30 Ill-intended Calls per Day
During the last month consultants received a total of 6,600 calls of verbal abusesexual harassment, over thirty calls a dayeach consultant.

Article 3. Traditional Korean Village in Suwon Hwaseong (0807-1)

Suwon (수원) City announced that it will develop a traditional Korean village in Suwon Hwaseong (수원 화성), one of the major tourist attractions in Gyeonggi Province.

This old fortress in Suwon (수원)a registered World Heritage.

1) Over 500,000 Tourists Visit Suwon Hwaseong
Located in central Suwon (수원) covering over one square kilometer, this residential fortressvisitedmore than 500,000 tourists every year. To revive the ancient glory of the fortress village, the Suwon City Government has been promoting the construction of traditional Korean houses in it since 2009, withmuch success.

3) Designation of Special Architectural Area
Technical regulations on housing construction also played a part in peoplewanting to build Korean houses. To alleviate such problem, the Suwon (수원) City Administration designated 160,000 square meters in the fortress, the area with most aged houses, as the ‘Special Architectural Area’.

The ‘Green Farm Villages’ supportedthe ‘Gyeonggi Provincial Government’ are emerging as popular summer holiday destinations among childrentheir families. Each village offers a variety of programs with local characteristics.

1) Hagil Village, Yongin
Young children are busy dying the handkerchiefs using natural pigments. Others a book of flower petalsplant leaves. Afterward, they join a hunting of mudfish. These children are immensely enjoying doing things they have never done before.

The ‘Free Legal Consultation Services’ of Gyeonggi Province increased its number of consultants to provide more specialized legal services in many different fields.

In this lawyer’s office in the ‘Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office Complex’, a residentreceiving free legal consultation service. The lawyer listens to the visitor carefullyadvises them how to solve the problem. Opened in 2009, the ‘Free Legal Consultation Services’ has added the appointment of 83 new consulting lawyers this month, increasing the total number of consultants to 243.

The number of cases dealt per day was only five when the services began, but it increased fivefold to twenty-five as of July this year.

During the summer vacation season, there are many public institutes in Gyeonggi Province which offer summer holiday programs for children. An interesting educational program of ‘Gyeonggi Provincial Museum’, in particular,gaining popularity among children.

For field plants, use black sheets to cover the ground to keep the moistureevaporating. Scraping the surface of the ground can also be also helpful because water can be absorbedspread better. Green houses must be kept well ventilatedshielded against sunlight to avoid heat damage.
