According to a survey recently conductedGyeonggi Province, the majority of job searchers consider employment in a smallmedium-sized business an acceptable option. Thisa notable shiftthe decades-old preference for employment with large enterprises among job searchers in Korea.

The preference for employment with large enterprises among job searchers stemsthe belief that large companies offer greater job stability. Such notions, however, are changing in Korea.

A provincial survey of job searchers in their 20s30s revealed that 87% of the respondents are willing work in small or medium-sized companies.

5) Increasing Preference for Small & Medium-sized Companies among Job Searchers
Large enterprises are still the preferred employers among youths in Gyeonggi Province, particularly among men. However, there are a growing number of job searchers who prefer smallmedium-sized enterprises, accounting for 31% ofjob searchers, numbering only slightly less than those who still prefer large enterprises, who account for 33.5%.

Gyeonggi Province staged cooking presentations at Yongin (용인) University for the promotion of reduced salt usage in foods among the ownerschefs of restaurants

These dishes, preparedculinary specialists, seem to have the usual amounts ofingredients, but they contain much less salt than ordinary dishes. The soybean paste soup, for example, has 30% less sodium than usual. The reduced salt content was balancedthe addition of other appetizing ingredients, rendering it as enjoyable as ordinary soybean paste soup.

3) Promotion of Reduced Salt Use among Restaurants
Thisthe first event of its kind organized for restaurants. The presentations were provided together with recipesa professorfood researchers as well asa renowned traditional food restaurant owner.

Among a variety of social services presented at this meeting, Horse Riding Healing, a therapeutic horse riding service for physical rehabilitationmental therapy, was ed as an excellent social service.

Title 4. Gyeonggi – Bauman University MOU for Technical Cooperation (1025-2)

A Gyeonggi Province delegation ledGovernor Kim Moon-soo (김문수) has been on the road visiting RussiaQatar since October 23rd. During the visit to Moscow, Gyeonggi Province signed an MOU for technical cooperation with the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The primary mission of the Gyeonggi delegation was the conclusion of technicaleconomic cooperation agreements with universities, national organizationslocal governments as well as the promotion of investment in Gyeonggi Province.

On the second day of his visit to Russia, Governor Kim visited Bauman University in Moscowsigned an MOU for the sharing of core technologies between the universityGyeonggi Province.
3) Bauman Moscow State Technical University
Under this agreement, advanced proprietary technologies in the fields of engineering, including electronics, mechanicsrocket science, will be transferred to Gyeonggi Province, which will help smallmedium enterprises of the province secure technological foundations.

5) Technical Transfer through Joint Research

Gyeonggi Provinceengaged in large-scale fishing site clean-up activities.

Gyeonggi Province has been implementing the Fishing Site Environment Improvement Project since 2011,recently undertook pilot operation of floating matter collectorswater-circulation devices.
1) Hongwon-ri Waterway, Pyeongtaek City
Waterways are often plaguedfloating trashother debris that can negatively impact the waterthe surrounding area. Floating matter collectors are being used to clean the surface of the water. Each of these machines can collecttreat up to 2.1 tons of floating matter a day.

Water-circulation devices are also used to treat water. They are often used for purifying still watercontrolling the growth of algae.

5) Environment Hazards at Fishing Sites
There are a large number of fishing sites in Gyeonggi Province, but many of them have become environmentalecological hazards due to trash.

“The purpose of the fishing site environment improvement project of Gyeonggi Provinceto provide a better environment for anglers added value in the fishing locations for the benefit of local residents.”
After the pilot operation of the fishing site improvement devices, which will continue until December this year, the Gyeonggi provincial administration will expand their use throughout the province once their effectiveness has been proven.

Title 6. Senior Industry Center Opens in Seongnam City (0823-3)

The Seongnam (성남) Senior Industry Center opened on October 5th. This center operates a number of programs including seniority experience programs for non-seniors, educationalhealth programs for seniorsindustrial support programs.

1) Seongnam Senior Industry Center / Seongnam City
The seniority experience unit of the centerequipped with special gears that simulate the physical capabilities of an 80-year-old person when worna non-senior. With these gears on, one finds it difficult to maneuver chopstickseat without spilling. Special eyeglasses simulate the eyesight of one afflicted with glaucoma. One’s sense of balanceimpaired to the extent that itdifficult to stand still or even climb on a wheelchair without assistance. Visiting students realize how hard daily life can be for seniors firsthand.

The seniority experience programs are divided into three categories: exhibition experiences, daily life experiencesdementia experiences.

With the population of seniors over 65 years of age exceeding 1.1 million in Gyeonggi Province, itbecoming more important for the rest of society to understand seniors better so as to improve quality of life for seniors.

Title 7. Gyeonggi Province Opens Russian Markets for Provincial Enterprises (1026-2)

A Gyeonggi delegation ledGovernor Kim Moon-soo (김문수) finalized a number of agreements with Russian authorities which will provide greater opportunities for smallmedium enterprises of the province to enter Russian markets. There were also technical cooperation agreements that would allow local enterprises to work with Russian organizations as strategic partners, which will also lead to the realization of exports to Russia.

1) MOU with Russian Office of Supply, UEMP / Moscow (October 25th)
For the first time among the local governments of Korea, Gyeonggi Province signed an agreement with the Russian Office of Supply, UEMP, for the participation of companiesGyeonggi Province in the supply of Russian government agencies. An immediate effectlikely to be realized in the supply of medical equipment to the Russian Federal Health Department.
2) UEMP, a Major Supply Channel to the Russian Government
UEMP handles approximately 15% of the supplies to the Russian government, mainly to the transportation, internal affairspresidential administration sections. Under this MOU, the UEMP will share purchase information with companies in Gyeonggi Provinceimplement a network to allow these companies to participate in dealings through its web site.
2) Agreement with Russian Technology Corporation for Technology Investment (October 25th)
Another MOU was also signed with the Russian Technology Corporation for joint ventures through technology investment in product development.
Under this agreement, the Russian Technology Corporation will provide world-leading proprietary technologies in mechanicalspace engineering, companies in Gyeonggi Province will provide expertise in product developmentproduction.
3) Visit to 2012 Russia Autumn Beauty Exhibition / Moscow (October 25th)
Governor Kim Moon-soo (김문수) also visited the Gyeonggi Province Hall at the 2012 Russia Autumn Beauty Exhibition in Moscow to participate in an export agreement ceremony,promised to provide active support to the beauty industry of the province.
