Atopy Family Camps are attracting many young atopy patientstheir families in Gyeonggi Province. Held in the forests of Yeonin (연인) Mountain in Gyeonggi Province, the atopy camp has just completed its ninth of a total of twelve sessions scheduled for this year.

The forest abounds with phytoncides generatedthe trees. These compounds are known to have a preventativetherapeutic effect on atopy, a skin affliction particularly common among children. This camprapidly gaining popularity since many participants have reported improvements in their conditions.

Including the ninth camp session, a total of 407 children have participated in these camps to date,therea long waiting list due to the popularity of the camps.

Title 2. Beauty Design Expo (BEAUDEX) 2012

The 4th Beauty Design Expo will be held at KINTEXOctober 12th to 14th. According to a Gyeonggi Province spokesperson, the provincial government aims to globalize the domestic beauty industry through the active inducement of foreign buyers.

Marking its fourth occasion this year, the Korea Beauty Design Expo will consist of a number of shows, contests,product exhibitions as well as forumsseminars infields of the beauty industry including hairdressing, skincare, make-upaccessories.

Title 3. Gyeonggi Public Forum on Development Regulations

Development in many of the northern areas of Gyeonggi Provincerestricted for defense purposes or due to regulations on the capital region. To address the problem of imbalanced development, Gyeonggi Province organized a public forum.

1) Yeoncheon County
Ninety-eight percent of Yeoncheon (연천) County in the northernmost part of Gyeonggi Province consists of military protection zones in which constructionstrictly controlled. These areas are also restricted under capital region regulations.

Such restrictionsregulations have prevented development in these areas, resulting in inferior financial self-sufficiencya lack of basic infrastructure.

Many parts of this county are boundmultiple restrictions related to military security, water source protectiongeographic closeness to the capital region.

5) Balanced Regional Development Forum / Press Center (October 4th)
The Gyeonggi Provincial Government hosted a public forum in order to identify problems with development restrictionsto seek alternatives. Dr. Kim Eun-gyeong (김은경) of the Gyeonggi Research Institute criticized the blanket enforcement of capital region regulations onareas surrounding the capital city without regional differentiation as solely for administrative convenience.

7) Disadvantaged Residents Urge the Central Government to Act
In their remarks, northern provincial residents urged the central government to take immediate action to remedy the situation.
Under the current regulations, which ignore regional considerations, the developmental imbalance in northern Gyeonggi Province will clearly become more serious. Whether orthe voices of the residents in these areas will lead to the alleviation of capital region regulations remains to be seen.
Title 4. Guidelines for Standard Road Signs

Gyeonggi Province disclosed guidelines for standardized road signs. These guidelines were prepared to improve current signage, which often causes confusion among driverspedestrians due to inconsistencies in shapedesign.

The current road signs are often confusing because they have irregular shapeslettering. Many are even illegible due to rustingfading, or are positionedthey areeasily seen.
2) Public Information Writing System Design Guidelines
To address such problems, Gyeonggi Province developed the Public Information Writing System Design Guidelines. These guidelines will be applied to public signage including road signs in the province
3) Standardized, SimpleEasy to Read
The new signs have simple, standardized designs that are easy to readfeature only essential information. They are also designed to enhance the image of Gyeonggi Province.

“The current road signs have irregular sizes, colorsfonts, causing more confusion among driverspedestrians. We developed standardized guidelines to resolve such problems.”
These new road signs willonly be more convenient for residents in transit but also improve the urban appearance of the province
The Gyeonggi provincial administration will undertake the phased replacement ofroad signs.
Title 5. 2012 G-Global Aviation in Ansan Opens

G-Global Aviation in Ansan (안산), the largest air show in Asia, opened on October 3rd. In addition to a variety of aerial performances, this year’s show also features the widest assortment of programsexhibitions for visitors to date.

During the aerial acrobatics show, the Black Eagles, the Korean Air Force’s acrobatics team that topped the aerial display category at the Waddington International Air Show earlier this year, displayed a breathtakingly perfect vertical .

Title 6. Korea’s First Defense Theme Park

Part of a former Korean army camp in Yangpyeong (양평) County of Gyeonggi Province was transformed into a park. Entitled ‘Defense Theme Park’, itthe first of its kind in Korea to be remodeledmilitary facilities.

The former army training ground was transformed into an artificial lawn with sports facilities complete with night lightingspectator seating. A defense education center was also establishedequipped with a variety of defense-related displays.

The 20th Division of the Korean Army, recognizing the difficulties facedresidents in this area due to a lack of sports facilities, decided to share its training ground.
