Developing overseas markets isan easy task for smallmedium-sized companies in Korea because they have limited capacity for financinginformation networking, which are crucial elements in international marketing. Company CEO Kim Myeong-han (김명한) says it would have taken much more timeeffort to launch his company’s products in the US without this program.

5) Gyeonggi Province Plans Further Marketing Support Programs
Gyeonggi Province plans to further implement global marketing support programs so as to help companies within its jurisdiction expand in overseas markets. Itpart of such efforts that the Gyeonggi Provincial Government signed an MOU for a strategic partnership with the State of Michigan State in the US on the establishment of a technical cooperation center.

3) 40,000 Attendees on Opening Day
The Gapyeong (가평) County Government estimated the number of attendees on opening day to have been approximately 40,000, thus confirming that this as the largest jazz event in Korea. Even the paid performance of the Jazz Island event was attendeda sold-out audience of 12,000.
4) 81Jazz Bands Participated
There were nine performance events including the main performance event, Jazz Islanda total of 81 internationallocal jazz teams including 45 amateur bands at this festival. Audience members were carried away with the merrimentrhythm of jazz music that fitted perfectly with the cool autumn breeze.

Gyeonggi Province, the Korean Air Force, Suwon (수원) CityHwaseong (화성) City finally reached an agreement on the transfer of the Suwon (수원) Emergency Airstrip.
1) Agreement on Removal of Suwon Emergency Airstrip / Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex (October 5th)
Gyeonggi Provincerelated militarycivil offices signed an agreement that stipulates the removal of the Suwon (수원) Emergency Air Strip to the replacement facility at the Suwon (수원) Airbase.
2) New Emergency Airstrip to Be Built2013
According to this agreement, the Korean Air Force will complete the construction of the replacement airstrip2013. Gyeonggi ProvinceSuwon (수원) City will each contribute 40% of the construction cost, whichestimated at KRW 20 billion,Hwaseong (화성) City will pay the remaining 20%.

The Suwon (수원) Emergency Airstrip, which was designated in 1993, is, in fact, a 2.7 km section of the 6-lane National Highway 1 that runs between Daehwanggyo-dong (대황교동) of Suwon (수원) CityJinan-dong (진안동) of Hwaseong (화성) City
4) Designation of Aviation Safety Zone Was Also Lifted
When the Emergency Airstripreplacedthe new facility at the Suwon (수원) Airbase, the Aviation Safety Zone designation for an 8 sq. km area around the current Emergency Airstrip will be lifted. This will return the property rights of local residentsfoster development activities within this area better facilitating military operations

CG 1. Employment Rates of Oasis Program
The employment rate of the trainees of the Oasis Program was highest in Anseong (안성) City at 77.8% followedthe cities of Gapyeong (가평), Suwon (수원), Anyang (안양)Paju (파주),with success rates of over 50%.

“This program received very positive responseswomen,I think ita good program that provides substantial help in employment because women can have practical education here.”
Since each traineeguided on a one-on-one basisan employment consultant even after the completion of the course, the employment success rate remains high.
CG 2. Economic Activity Rate of Women in Gyeonggi Province
According to Statistics Korea, the economic participation rate of women in Gyeonggi Province rose47.5% in 2001 to 47.9% in 2010, indicating an increase of only 0.4%. Even in 2008, when it was at its highest, the rate was less than 50%

Title 5. Real-time Bus Schedule Information via Smart Phones (1004-1)

Smart phone s can now access bus arrival information at any bus stop in Gyeonggi Province. This service will be especially helpful to passengers waiting at bus stopsinformation boards haveyet been installed.

“It’s more inconvenient because we just have to wait without knowing how much longer we must wait. I hope that they provide bus schedule information at the bus stops even in remote areasthis.”
3) Bus Information Board Installation Rate 20% in Gyeonggi Province
There are approximately 4,800 bus stops in Gyeonggi Provincereal-time bus schedule information boards were installed, accounting for only 20% of the overall total. The main reason for thisthat it costs as much as KRW 15 million for each bus stop,the provincial budget simply cannot cover the entire cost yet. However, a bus arrival information servicenow available through smart phones at 17,000 other bus stopsbus information boards haveyet been installed.
Thisthe Bus Information Service introducedGyeonggi Province. When you tap your smart phone on the poster at the bus stop, bus information appears on the screen of the phone. If the smart phone has Near-Field Communication – or NFC – capability, tap the phone on the poster; or, the phone doeshave NFC capability, scan the Quick Response – or QR – code,the arrivalroute information of that bus stop will then be displayed on the phone screen.
According to an official of Gyeonggi Province, the use of simple posters instead of information boards will have the effect of saving as much as KRW 250 billion in the provincial budget.

Recent media reports regarding the contamination of saltpans in South Cholla (절라) Province with agricultural chemicals have stirred widespread concern throughout Korea. There were also concerns about saltpans in Gyeonggi Province.

1) Sun-dried Salt of Gyeonggi Province Proven Safe
The Gyeonggi HealthEnvironment Research Institute conducted tests for agricultural chemical residues at22 saltpans in Gyeonggi Province; none were found to have been contaminated.
2) Test Also Proved Excellent Quality
The results of these tests also confirmed the excellent quality of Gyeonggi Province salt, showing that its potassiummagnesium contentnearly three times than that of a famous French salt brand.

We found no agricultural chemical residue in any of 22 saltpans in Gyeonggi Province. Gyeonggi saltsafe.”
4) Tile Structure of Gyeonggi Saltpans Negates Need for Chemicals
Sincethe saltpans in Gyeonggi Province use earthenware tiles instead of plastic sheets as a floor material, crabsweeds cannot penetrate; therefore, thereno need for pesticides or herbicides,the saltpans are also free of environmental hormones.
Since the quality of the sun-dried salt of Gyeonggi Province has been proven scientifically, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government plans to promote the use of Gyeonggi salt among consumersimplement support policies for its productionsale.
