Delegates of Gyeonggi Province ledGovernor Kim Moon-soo (김문수) left for China on July 8th for a three-day visit to Liaoning Province, which lies on the northern border of North Korea. The delegates were accompanieda number of representatives of large Korean enterprises.

The area of Cheongsan-myeon (청산면) in Yeoncheon (연천) County of Gyeonggi Provincedotted with a large number of unlicensed dyeing factories which have long been condemned as a principal source of environmental contamination. This area will now be transformed into a high-end fabric dyeing industrial complex. A large number of dyeing factories that have been operating without permits in Yeongcheon (연천) County of Gyeonggi Province will be given a chance to dispel the stigma of being principal environmental contamination sources as they are reborn as members of the new advanced fabric industrial complex. The construction of the Cheongsan-Daejeon (청산-대전) General Industrial Complex in Yeoncheon (연천) County began following a groundbreaking ceremony heldGyeonggi Province.

The Cheongsan-Daejeon (청산-대전) General Industrial Complex will be constructed on a 188,000 sq.m site in Cheongsan-myeon (청산면) with completion scheduled for 2013.
2) KRW60 Billion Project
A total of 30 fabric dyeing factories will be relocated to this industrial complex, which will cost KRW 60 billion to construct.
3) Unlicensed Factories Dodged Crackdown
There has long been a large concentration of unlicensed dyeing factories in the Daejeon-ri (대전니) area of Cheongsan-myeon (청산면), but the topographic conditions of the area prevented authoritiesundertaking effective regulation.
4) Legal Foundation for Work Set in 2009
To pave the way for the construction of a new industrial complex in this area, Gyeonggi Province had submitted an official request for the alleviation of regulationsthe designation of this area as an Advance Industrial Complex. The groundbreaking for this industrial complex was finally made possiblethe revision of the “Notification on the Regulation on Contaminant Discharging Facility Establishment in the Imjin (임진) River Valley”the Ministry of Environment in May.
