Title 1. Supply of Dairy Cattle to Foot-and-mouth Disease-Stricken Livestock Farms (0603-3)

Gyeonggi Province initiated ‘The Dairy Cattle Sharing with Love Movement’ to help stock farmers in the northern part of the province who had been hard-hitthe onset of foot-and-mouth disease. This project will alleviate the difficulties facedstock farmers who have been unable to refill their cowsheds.

1) Suhwa Stock Farm / Gwangtan-myeon, Paju City
This stock farm in Paju (파주) City buried 144 milking cows when they became infected with foot-and-mouth disease in December last year. Now, after five months, they are once again open to receive new cows.
2) 21 Milking CowsJeonbukJeonnam Provinces
These cows, which cameHampyeong (함평) in South Jeolla ProvinceGimjae (김제) in North Jeolla Province, were proveninspection to be of excellent pedigree. Like this stock farm, many other stock farms in northern Gyeonggi Province have been unable to buy new dairy cattle even they could afford to do so.
3) 10,000 Cows to Be Secured under ‘Dairy Cattle Sharing with Love Movement’
Gyeonggi Province plans to secure 10,000 milking cows in collaboration with the Korea Animal Improvement Associationthe Paju-Yeoncheon (파주-연천) Livestock Cooperative,will supply them to affected stock farms at lower than market price.
4) Bang Gi-seong, Gyeonggi Province Deputy Governor II for Political Affairs
“Stock farmers who were strickenfoot-and-mouth disease couldbuy milking cows even they could. So we invited stock farmers who have large number of cows to participate in the ‘Sharing with Love Movement.’ We will continue to endeavor to help affected stock farmers refill their cowsheds.”
Gyeonggi Province also announced that the provincial government will complete the final maintenance work at 2,273 culled animal burial sites in 18 citiescounties in the provinceJune 27th before the arrival of the monsoon season.
5) Support for Early Recovery of Foot-and-mouth Disease-stricken Stock Farms
Gyeonggi Province will implement intensive preventative measures against foot-and-mouth diseaseprovide administrative support for the early recovery of affected stock farms. The provincial government will also continue to secure dairy cattle for reintroduction to affected stock farms through the ‘Sharing with Love Movement’.

There are a total of 1,300 unmarried mothers of under the age of 24. Gyeonggi Provinceproviding them with monthly support of KRW150,000 for childcare as well as a variety of educational opportunities.

This Pro-Am match was geared to help competitors in the main event refresh their skillsto boost the atmosphere of the occasion. The sailors, however, seemed more interested in getting ahead, heralding the tightness of the competition that would be seen the next day.

Running five daysJune 8th until 12th, the 2011 Korea Match Cup was held offshore of Gyeonggi Province’s Jeongok(전곡) PortTando(탄도) Port.

The winner of the last year’s cup, Mathew Richard of France,the overall winner of last month’s qualifier, Reuben Corvett of New Zealand, together with an armada of equally competitive newcomers, presented fierce competition for the 2011 Korea Match Cup

The Korea International Boat Show, which ran in tandem with the Korea Match Cup, consisted of a variety of marine sports programs as well as colorful boat exhibitions that provided visitors with memorable experiences.
