Gyeonggi Province, Uijeongbu(의정부) CityEulji(을지) University signed an agreementon the establishment of an Eulji(을지) University campusuniversity Hospital on the 28 acre site of the former US Army Camp Essayon in Uijeongbu(의정부) City that was returned to Gyeonggi Province.
According to this agreement, the Gyeonggi Provincial GovernmentEujeongbuCity (의정부) will provide administrative support for the construction of buildingsfacilities,Eulji(을지) University will complete the construction of the university hospital2017the campus2020.
This campusaffiliated hospital of Eulji University in Uijeongbu(의정부) City will provide local residents with added opportunities for higher educationsuperior medical services as well as employment.
2. Promotion of Livestock ProductsGyeonggi Province

Itknown that the foot-and-mouth disease virus has no harmful effects on the human body. However, the outbreak of the disease last winterstill negatively affecting consumer confidenceinlivestock products. Some efforts are deemed necessary to promote the consumption of beefpork to help livestock farmers recoverthe loss.

A livestock products fair was held at the Suwon(수원) Agricultural Products General Distribution CenterGyeonggi Province to promote sales of quality livestock productsthe province.
During this sales fair, that ran for three daysMarch 25th, quality products bearing the governor-certified G-mark were sold at a 20 to 30% discount,a variety of events including ‘Tasting Korean Meat’ were featured.
The purpose of this fair was to promote the consumption of livestock products that has declined since the outbreak of foot-and-mouth diseaseto help livestock farmers who have had to endure damage causedthe disease.
The provincial government also prepared measures to support livestock farmers who are still struggling to recoverthe devastation of the disease.
The provision of employment support for day laborers who lost their jobs due to the onset of foot-and-mouth diseasea priority.
Laborers who submit job applicationsat Gyeonggi Employment Centersseekregular employment will be introduced to vacancies at smallmedium-sized companies.
If these laborers are legal foreign workers, employment support will be provided in conjunction with local job centers.
Former day laborers at livestock farms that were closed due to foot-and-mouth diseaseformer employees of businesses that were also closed due to the disease– such as meat shops, restaurantsstock feed shops–will be paid KRW818,000 per month for a family of four for three months. A Visiting Country Market will also be organized every weekend to promote the consumption of quality livestock productsby connecting urban residents with livestock farmers.
3. 2011 Gyeonggi Small Business Inauguration Festival

For this festival, six successful new businesses were appointed as mentors who will transfer their know-howsubstantial support through mutual exchanges.
Gyeonggi Province has been providing financial aid of KRW 50 million for each recipient of business inauguration support, but,this year, a maximum of an additional KRW 20 million will be made available after 6 monthsinauguration. An automatic external defibrillator, or AED, may be used to revive the heart with jolts of electricitywhen the patient cannot be revivedCPR.
When operated properly in accordance with instructions, the AED generates an electric pulse of 2,000 volts.
This apparatus can increase the survival rate of patientsup to 90% itused within one minute,up to 50% used within five minutes.
AEDs are installed at 34 locations in Gyeonggi Province including local fire stationspublic offices.
However, AED installation iseasy because each unit costs more than KRW 3.5 million, a cost that must be bornethe installing organization.
Installation of AEDs should be expanded to allow anyone to use it in emergency situation to save a life on the spot.
7. 119 Rescue Squad ReturnsJapan

The 119 rescue squad that was dispatched to Japan to assist with rescue operations in the wake of the disastrous earthquake returned on March 23rd. Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo praised them at a luncheon.

On March 14th, three days after the earthquake in Japan, Korea dispatched a total of 118 rescuers to its neighbor: 55the Central 119 Rescue Center, 20Gyeonggi Province, 22Seoul2Gangwon(강원) Province.
Korean rescuers worked in Sendai CityShiogama City in Miyagi Prefectureearthquake damage was most severerecovered 18 bodies.
The dedication shownthe members of the rescue squad, who carried out rescue activities braving the dangers of a radioactiveenvironment, must have impressed the Japanesestrengthened relation between the two countries.
