1: Preparations Underway for 2011 G-Global Aviation in Ansan

G-Global Aviation, an international aviation industries exhibition held annually in Ansan City of Gyeonggi Province, attracted more than 400,000 visitors last yearbecame the largest aviation exhibition in Asia. Gyeonggi Province began preparations for the hosting of this year’s event starting with the appointment of a public relations ambassador.

Gyeonggi Province appointed singer Kang San-ae (강산애) as the public relations ambassador for G-Global Aviation 2011. At the official appointment ceremony, Kang said that G-Global Aviation would make dreams of flying come truethat he would do his best to promote the event.
During this ceremony, the aviation exhibition promotional team “Air-planner” was also officially inauguratedbegan operation.
The Air-planner team consists of 50 university students who will engage in onlineoffline promotional activities for the event as well as photographing, both videostill pictures,news gathering.
The G-Global Aviation 2011, whichscheduled to runMay 5th until 10th, will feature a variety of spectacles such as a world-class air show, the display of 130 airplanes, a military exhibitiona flying experience over the West Coast.
The objective of G-Global Aviationto promote the leisure aviationthe domestic aviation industry, whichpegged as one of the “new growth engines” of the nation.
2: Employment Support for Former Livestock Farm Workers

Stockbreeders throughout Korea suffered huge losses,been forced to endure the culling of 3 million animals during the onset of foot-and-mouth disease. Gyeonggi Province plans to provide employment support for unemployed stock farm workers since many such workers lost their jobs.

Foot-and-mouth disease swept through 19 citiescounties in Gyeonggi Province alone.
More than 2,000 stock farms suffered lossesfoot-and-mouth disease,700 workers lost their jobs.
Gyeonggi Province plans to provide employment support for those who lost their jobs at stock farmsbegan a survey of the affected workers.
The provincial government will prioritize former stock farm workers who are willing to participate in public work projects.
The employment center database for companies with vacancies will be utilized and, for foreign workers, the Ministry of EmploymentLabor will be consulted for employment support. Gyeonggi Province plans to make an early compilation of the first revised supplementary budget of KRW 14.6 trillion for recoverythe effects of foot-and-mouth diseasethe promotion of the local economy so as to stabilize the livelihoods of provincial residents.
3: Good Tax Payer Certificates

On March 3rd, Tax Payers’ Day, Gyeonggi Province presented Good Tax Payer Certificates to companies that have had good tax payment records for the past five years.

To commemorate Tax Payers’ Day, Gyeonggi Province ed 314 Good Local Tax Payers139 Good Tax Paying Companiespresented Good Tax Payer Certificates to 47 company CEOs.
For a company to be eligible for a Good Tax Payer Certificate, it must pass a reviewthe Gyeonggi Local Tax Committee based on assessment criteria for the number, amountrecord of payments,
Individualscompanies that received the certificate are entitled to a 0.3% loan interest discountthe exemption of banking fees when they use Shinhan (신한) Bank or NH Bank. The awarded companies are also exemptedtax inspection for the next two years.
Gyeonggi Province will increase the number of certificate recipientsbenefits so as to promote the self-declaration of taxes.
4: Gyeonggi Province Permits Acquisition of New Livestock

As the weather grows warmerthe number of occurrences of foot-and-mouth disease decrease, Gyeonggi Province plans to permit stockbreeders to acquire new livestock.

Since occurrences of foot-and-mouth disease have decreased, Gyeonggi Province will allow stockbreeders to acquire new livestock when they are readyas early as theof March.
According to a provincial official, the livestock transportation ban for 19 citiescounties of the province will be liftedas early as March 20th since the number of foot-and-mouth disease occurrence reports has decreased considerably.
The provincial government has already lifted the ban in 12 citiescounties including Shiheung (시흥), Goyang (고양)Yangpyeong (양평). The ban in the remaining citiescounties will also be lifted around the 20th of March depending on the results of monitoring.
Once the animal transportation banlifted, stockbreeders will be allowed to acquire new livestock as soon as the negative results of foot-and-mouth disease tests are confirmed. Even animals that have tested positive may be taken in after a 30-day quarantine periodfavorable resultssubsequent testing.
There are 633 cattle farms, 533 dairy farms1,058 pig farms that will be subjected to quarantine testing. After the testinganimal quarantine officersprivate consultants, stockbreeders will be allowed to acquire new animals.
For the follow-up management of the burial sites of culled animals, Gyeonggi Province plans to initially dispose of 4,460 tons, or 60%, of the total leachateMarch 15th,3,040 tons of the remaining 40%the 31st.
5: Gyeonggi Cine-Incentive Support Program

Gyeonggi Province plans to provide support for movie production companies that use production service companies in the province which provide movie sets, artworkstudios.

The Gyeonggi Cine-Incentive Program will be extended to encompass movie production service companies such as studiosartwork companies in the province.
The Gyeonggi PerformingFilm Commission signed an MOU with movie production service companies in the province that provide studios, artworkmovie sets.
The movie production service companies participating in this MOU consist of three studiomovie set production companiesone artworkmovie set production company.
A total of KRW 300 million will be set aside for the 2011 Gyeonggi Cine-Incentive Support Programprovided for the production of movies that were released or will be released during the periodOctober 16th, 2010, to February 29th, 2012. The amount of support per company will be in the range of KRW 1 million to KRW 100 million.
These four movie production service companies will participate in comprehensive cooperation in a variety of activities including the promotion of the image industry, linkage with incentive support programsthe utilization of company information.
Movie production companies that wish to apply for Gyeonggi Cine-Incentive Support may do so upon consultation with the participating production service companies based on transactions with these companies during the periodJanuary 1st, 2010, until May 13th, 2011.
Since 2007, Gyeonggi Province has redeemed a certain portion of the production costs that were spent in the province for movie production companies under the Gyeonggi Cine-Incentive Program.
This supportexpected to provide movie production companies with an opportunity to reinvest the money in production development.
6: Home Korean Lessons for Multicultural Family

Gyeonggi Province began providing at-home Korean lessons for children in multicultural families4 years of age to the third grade of primary school. 2,000 children will benefitthis home Korean lesson program.

At 7 o’clock in the evening, a familiar face visits the home of Shim Lim-hwa (심림화), who has been living in Korea for eight years. The visitora teacherthe studentShim’s son, a first grader in primary school.
The teacher checks the homeworklets the child do the readingwriting exercises.
Thanks to this home lesson, whichprovided once a week for ten months, parents can be assured that their children are learning Korean.
The province has been providing the children in multicultural families with the free home education service in collaboration with Woongjin Thinkbig, an educational publication company, since 2009.
There are 9,700 children in multicultural families in Gyeonggi Province,57% of them are 4 to 6 years of age. These children are in a disadvantaged situation in terms of learning Korean.
Gyeonggi Province provides the home lesson service to 2,000 children, more than twice the number of last year, to alleviate the language problem of multicultural families.
