For a high school student, support of KRW1.67 million will be provided for annual tuition fees, KRW60,000 for school meal charges, KRW360,000 for free class feesKRW18,700 for monthly internet fees as well as KRW1 million per household per 3 years for PC purchase.

Former US Congressman Kim Chang-jun, now an honorary ambassador of Gyeonggi Province, boarded a subway train to visit the world’s first public service office on a moving train.

Honorary Gyeonggi Province Ambassador Kim Chang-jun arrived at Yeongdeungpo (영등포) Station to board the public service train. Kim visited the mobile public service office on the train travelingYeongdeungpo (영등포) Station to Seodongtan (서동탄) Station.
Before arriving at Yeongdeungpo (영등포) Station, Ambassador Kim had visited Dominanbang (도민안방), a mobile provincial service. Kim praised the customized, on-site public services of Gyeonggi Province, noting that such services are unprecedented in the world.

4: Muhandolbom Visits Private Welfare Houses

There are more than 690 small private social welfare houses with 10 or less residents in Gyeonggi Province. Most of these are run without facility managersexperience difficulties in inspecting, maintainingrepairing their facilities. Gyeonggi Province began operating the Welfare Facilities Visiting Muhandolbomie (무한돌보미) Service so as to help these facilities.

Energy savingone of the major concerns of every autonomous body in Korea. Gyeonggi Province signed the ESCO Project Implementation MOU with the Korea Energy Management Corporationthe Korean Association for ESCOs.
The ESCO Project operatesinstalling energy-saving devices on behalf of energy srecovering the invested amountthe value saved. Under this MOU, the four organizations will work together for the implementation of the ESCO project.
Gyeonggi Province will provide administrative supportthe Korea Energy Management Corporation will provide energy specialists. The Korean Association for ESCOsthe Korea LED Association will assume the responsibility of investigating energy usageproviding a range of technical support.
When the ESCO projectimplemented at 300 facilities in Gyeonggi Province over a period of three years, 760,000 tons out of a total of 112 million tons of green house gas will have been reduced,KRW151 billion will have been saved. Gyeonggi Province will continue to support green energy projects such as solar energy development so as to promote low-carbon green growth.
6: Local Community Employment Project Nails Success of Employment Policy

The general unemployment rate, influencedgradual economic recovery, has shifted downward, but people in underprivileged social segments are still struggling to find employment. Gyeonggi Province launched the 2011 Local Community Employment Project to support the livelihoods of underprivileged familiespromote the local economy.

The general unemployment rate has been decreasing recently thanks to the economic recovery. However, our disadvantaged neighbors are stilldifficulty finding employment.
In order to support the livelihoods of people in low income bracketspromote the local economy, Gyeonggi Province launched the 2011 Local Community Employment Project.
This year’s local community employment project will provide 7,311 job searchers with stable employment.
The 2011 Local Community Employment Project will runMarch 2nd until November 30th, during which time a first group of 3,656 employment candidatesa second group of 3,655 candidates will be allocated to a total of 747 business sites in the 31 citiescounties of the province.
Previous financial support programs for employment promotion have been criticized as being transient projects. The provincial government plans to implement a variety of programs under this initiative that will achieve substantialsustainable results.
Since the purpose of this Local Community Employment Projectto promote community-minded society, the provincial governmentthe citiescounties of the province will maximize administrative power to ensure the success of the project.

As the cold weather of winter recedes, temperatures are rising as well as noxious fumesthe burial sites of livestock that were culled during the onset of foot-and-mouth disease. As the smell around the burial sites intensifies, Gyeonggi Province has proposed a novel solution to address the problem.
The Gyeonggi Institute of HealthEnvironmental Research announced that filter packs containing activated carbon can effectively reduce the foul odorsa factor of 10. The institute has experimented with the use of activated carbon, or charcoal, filters in the gas exhaust pipes of the burial sites.
Noxious odors are reduced as the sulfuric or nitrogenous compounds that cause the odors adhere to the surface of fine bubbles producedthe activated carbon
The institute performed an experiment at an animal burial site in Yeoju (여주) Countyfound that the combined odor concentration decreased90% after using the packs of activated carbon.
Activated carboncheapeasily purchased. Italso easy to install. Simply wrap it in a net or a clothinstall it in the gas pipe.
Activated carbon packs should be replaced every two weeks.
The provincial government also plans to distribute bacillus cereus to citiescounties. Bacillus cereusknown to accelerate the decomposition of animal carcassesprevents odor-causing pollutantsescaping burial grounds.
Gyeonggi Province will undertake the strict monitoringmanagement of burial sites to eliminate foul smellprevent leachateflowing into riverswater sources.
