1. Gyeonggi Province Grants Advantage Points to Childbearing Employees

As part of countermeasures against the low birth rate, Gyeonggi Province announced that it would grant unprecedented additional personnel points to female officials who bear children.

Gyeonggi Province announced a new personnel policy that allows female officials who have borne children to receive preferential personnel treatment with additional evaluation points.
According to the “Happy Mom Plan” disclosedthe province, an additional 3 points will be granted up to three times to the performance evaluation of a female official when she returnschildbirth.
Also, the “Preferential Repositioning Plan” will be implemented to allow female officials who returnchildbirth to apply for preferred positions. These applications will be given highest priority for position reassignment,applicants will be provided with a month of preparatory training before childbirthtwo months of job training after returningchildbirth.
The Gyeonggi Province Spokesperson admitted that preferentially awarding childbearing female officials with additional evaluation points may be considered reverse sexual discriminationthat the plan will have to be refined to prevent such an effect.
2: Gyeonggi Province Set for 9th Consecutive Win in National Games

The 91st National Games have been taking place in Jinju (진주) City in South Gyeongsang Province since October 6th. The Gyeonggi provincial team of athletesset to achieve its ninth consecutive win in the games.

Gyeonggi Province’s athletic team for the 91st National Games had an inaugural meetingreaffirmed its resolution to achieve an overall triumph.
In the National Games scheduled for the 6th to 12th of October, a total of 17,773 athletes14 citiesprovinces will compete in 44 events.
The Gyeonggi Province team of 1,978 athletes – including the female weightlifters Jang Mi-ran (장미란)Moon Yu-ra (문유라) – will participate in these National Games in 44 events. The members of the Gyeonggi team are confident that they will achieve a ninth consecutive overall triumph, though it maybe easy because special additional points will be granted to the host according to the new scoring tem introduced this year.
Being the commonly recognized sports center of the nation, Gyeonggi Province was the overall winner of the previous 90th National Gamesalso achieved 10 consecutive overall wins in The Festival of Korean Sports for All as well as 9 consecutive overall wins in The National Winter Sports Festival.

Waste materials such as old newspapersempty plastic bottles can be recycled into new raw materials. There was an interesting exhibition of inventive goods for everyday use made with just such materials.

A humidifier fountain featuring an artistic design was made with used paper cups. Itonly works as a functional humidifier but also as excellent interior decoration.
Gyeonggi Province held the Gyeonggi Recycled Articles ExhibitionOctober 5th to 7th in order to promote resource conservationthe recycling of waste materials.
A total of 248 articles out of 833 entries in the open contest that passed the first screening were displayed at the exhibition.
5 Picnic Bag, Practical Use Category Grand Prize Winner, Middle/High School Section
The Grand Prize in the MiddleHigh School Section was awarded to Choi Eun-Ji (최은지) of the Guri (구리) Girl’s High School for a picnic bag made of old newspaperswires.
Gyeonggi Province expects that this exhibition of recycled waste materials will promote the practice of recycling as well as awareness among provincial residents that waste materials can be used as a valuable resource.

The Minister of Medicine of Khabarovsk Krai, Alexandre Bizbiski,other medical personnelKhabarovsk began their Gyeonggi tour with a visit to a dental clinic in Goyang (고양) City.
This visitthe Russian delegation represents more than the usual international exchange in the field of healthmedicine that typically involves joint studies or humanitarian support. For Gyeonggi Province, it was an opportunity to export advanced domestic medical temspromote medical tourism.
From the morning of October 4th, the Khabarovsk medical officials traveled to the cities of Suwon (수원), Bucheon (부천)Goyang (고양)observed the high medical service standards of Gyeonggi Province including general health checkups.
There are 88 general hospitals276 out-patient clinics in Khabarovsk Krai.
As the medical service standards of Khabarovsk are relatively lowthe tem too complex to be effective, there are approximately 20,000 cancer patients on waiting lists for medical help.

Starting with negotiations with Cabot on day 1, the delegation induced investments of USD 150 millionfive US companies. These new investments will more than 500 jobs in business sites in Gyeonggi Province including Kin’s Tower in Seongnam (성남) City in 2013.
