1.Forest Garden: An Ideal Summer Resort

The Mulhyanggi Forest Gardena forest within the city that, as the name of the garden suggests,filled with more than 1,600 species of water-loving plants. The stresses of daily life will melt away as soon as one enters the beautiful forestpartakes of its fresh air.
4) Experiential Insect Exhibition Runs until August 22nd
Therean experiential insect exhibition for students on summer vacation in the forest garden. It will run until August 22ndprovides students with an opportunity to enjoy ecological experiences firsthand.

ThisSemiwon (세미원) Garden in Yangpyeong County.
“View the watercleanse your mind, view the flowersbeautify your mind.” The name of this garden, Semiwon, reflects this axiom. Semiwonfamous for its lotus gardens, which are, in fact, waterflower gardens ofshapes in which visitors can forget stresses of daily liferefresh their minds.

Gyeonggi Province has officially designated the Mulhyanggi Forest Garden, Semiwon Garden, the Pocheon National Forest Gardenthe Garden of Morning Calm in Gapyeong County as four recommended gardens in order to encourage residents to visit them.

2. Gyeonggi ProvinceMinistry of Foreign Affairs & Trade Work Together for Multicultural Families

With over 300,000 foreigners living within its jurisdiction, Gyeonggi Province has the largest number of multicultural families in Korea. In order to help them settle comfortably in this countryto provide support for lesser developed countries, Gyeonggi Province agreed to work with the Ministry of Foreign AffairsTrade in the developmentimplementation of support projects.

Gyeonggi Provincethe Ministry of Foreign AffairsTrade signed an MOU for ‘Mutual Cooperation in the Realization of a Global Korea with Heightened National Prestige.’

The projects to be implemented under the agreement include support projects for lesser developed countries, foreign cultural diplomacy projects,a joint effort for the inclusion of Namhansan Fortress in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites List. With this agreement, various support programs for multicultural families in the province can now benefitactive additional supportoverseas embassiesconsular offices as well as other foreign offices in Korea.

By establishing a new ‘Multicultural Family Division’ for the first time in Korea, Gyeonggi Provinceendeavoring to provide settlement support to foreigners who are living in the province in order to alleviate the difficulties they face in housingeducation.

Last June, Gyeonggi Province donated KRW 60 million to Ethiopia for the development of water wellsthe provision of stationery to schoolchildren. With the signing of the MOU with the Ministry of Foreign AffairsTrade, Gyeonggi Provincenow able to implement a broader range of support for multicultural families in the province as well as active new exchange programs with overseas governments.

3. Gwacheon City Needs Political Support to Survive

The Gyeonggi Provincial GovernmentGwacheon City announced a Gwacheon City re-development plansubmitted a proposal based on the plan to the central government.

The plan for the utilization of the vacant government office complex incorporates three major development plans for a central education zone, a central knowledgeinformation zonea multi-functional complex valley.

According to the plan, the central education zone will feature the development of a 675,000 square meter site in Choongang-dong as a center for education as well as sciencetechnology research; it will incorporate the facilities of renowned localoverseas universities, including Seoul National University, as well as international R&D facilities. A 1,270,000 square meter site in Galwon-dong Moonwon-dong will accommodate a multi-functional R&D complex for advanced technology industries including gaming, informationcommunication. 4. Reliable, G-Marked, Antibiotic-free, Unfertilized Eggs Now AvailableVending Machines

Have you heard about vending machines that dispense fresh eggs every morning? There are vending machines in apartment complexespublic office buildings that do exactly that. The priceonly a fraction more than that of eggs bought in supermarkets, but consumers are more than happy to use them.

Cartons of eggs fill the racks in this egg vending machine. It works justother vending machines that sell drinks or snacks. Simply press the designated button for the eggs money, then you can take out a carton of eggs.

The egg vending machines appeared last year in apartment complexes in Gyeonggi Province. Now they can also be seen in the city halls of GwangjuIcheon

This business started with six machines in June last year. The number has now more than doubled to 14 machines; 40% of the production costs for these vending machines was subsidizedGwangju (광주) City.

Gyeonggi Province plans to install the egg vending machines in the Provincial Government Complex, Suwon Stationmore apartment complexes in order to supply residents with fresh g-marked eggs.

5. Appointment of Promotional Ambassadors for the Second DMZ Korea International Documentary Festival

The singer Bobby Kim, the actor Lee Ha-nuia girlPaju City, Kim So-Yeon, were officially appointed as ambassadors for this year’s documentary film festival.

The 2nd DMZ Korea International Documentary Festival will take place one monthnow. Under circumstances in which relations between NorthSouth Korea have recently soured, the message of peacecommunicationmore appealing than ever.

6.Icheon City Appointed UNESCO City of Creativeness

The city of ceramics, Icheon, has been appointed a UNESCO City of Creativeness.

Icheon City of Gyeonggi Province was appointed as a City of CreativenessUNESCO.

Icheon became the first city of creativeness to be appointed in KoreaUNESCO in the folk craftfolk art category.

The creation of a network of cities of creativenessa major undertaking of UNESCO that aims to promote cultural developmentdiversity through cultural promotion activitiescooperation among the appointed citiesutilizing their own cultural assetscreative power.

Icheon Citynow able to participate in the UNESCO international cooperation network for cultural programsexchange activities simultaneously promoting its own culturaldesign projects through the UNESCO website.

As the national center for the ceramic industry, Icheon City serves as a host of the World Ceramic Biennaleother local ceramic festivals.

7. New System to Lower Summer Temperaturea

A new tem for lowering the temperatures of green houseslivestock pens so as to cope with intense summer heat was developedthe Gyeonggi Agricultural ResearchExtension Service.

In order to cope with scorching temperatures during the summer season, the Gyeonggi Agricultural ResearchExtension Service developedsupplies low-pressure fog nozzle tems that successfully lower temperatures.

The existing greenhouse cooling tems are considered to have productivity problems because they aresufficiently durablerequire high management costs.

This new low-pressure fog nozzle technology utilizes the Venturi effect, whichalso used in the mixing of air with fuel in automobiles.

When air passes through a narrow pipe, it travels fasterlowers internal pressure which then draws in the liquid. Using this principle, this tem can spray very fine water particles.

Installation of the low-pressure nozzle tem costs only KRW 9 million. It can be applied in a variety of facilities – such as greenhouses, livestock pensherbal processing facilities – for lowering temperatures.

In order to promote the use of this low-pressure fog nozzle tem, the Gyeonggi Agricultural ResearchExtension Service plans to finalize the budget plan with Gyeonggi Provinceexpand the supply of the tem to numerous farms in the province.
