1.Park Ji-seong Children’s Football Center Opens

The captain of the Korean National Football Team, Park Ji-seong (박지성), opened a football center for children in Suwon (수원) City. One of Park’s teammatesthe Manchester United Football Club, Patrice Evra, flew inEnglandvisited the football center to offer congratulations on its opening.

A special football school for children, the Park Ji-seong (박지성) Football Center, opened. At the opening ceremony attendedmany notable figures, Park stated that he hopes to transfer to young children what he has learnedhis career as a football player.

A Manchester United defenderteammate of Park in the club, Patrice Evra, was also present at the opening ceremony as a special guest. He travelledthe wayFrance to celebrate the opening of the center.

Following the opening ceremony, Park Ji-seong, Lee Cheong-ryongPatrice Evra played a mini football game with the members of a children’s football club to teach their know-how to the young players.

2.I Feel Secure Because I Have a ‘Mentor’ Who Is Like My Own Mother

In order to help foreign immigrant-by-marriage women adapt to life in Korea, Gyeonggi Province launched ‘The Mentor-Mentee Connection Program for Multicultural Families’ last April. This project has since achieved great success as there are now many participants under the care of mentors.

Two weeks ago, a Viese woman, Kim Kaewooyuing gave birth to a daughter in a hospital in Ansan. She was unable to afford the hospitalization but went through the childbirth at this hospital withoutto worry about the costs thanks to the help of a Multicultural Family Mentor.

Lee Ok-soon became the mentor of Kim Kaewooyuing last year under the Mentor-Mentee Connection Program. It was she who appealed to the local hospitalsuccessfully persuaded the hospital to provide Kim with free service for childbirth.

Apartthe Multicultural Family Mentor-Mentee Connection Program, Gyeonggi Province also endeavors to help multicultural families adapt to life in Korea through other activities as well such as education in Korean cookingKorean language.

There are a total of 32,576 immigrant women who have obtained residential status through marriage now living in Gyeonggi Province. This accounts for a quarter of the national total.

While the treatmentsocial status of immigrant-by-marriage women has become a hot issue recently, the Mentor-Mentee Connection Program of Gyeonggi Province provides multicultural families with solidreliable support as they were our own families.

3.Gyeongin National University of Education Children’s Anshim School Summer Camp

The Children’s Anshim School of the Gyeongin National University of Education opened a summer camp. There are a variety of programs for children to enjoy during summer vacation. This camp will be a memorable experience for children who wish to make the most of their summer break.

The students of the children’s Anshim School of the Gyeongin National University of Education, or GNUE, are busy working with clay. A lump of claytransformed into the shape of a cup in the small hands of a child.

A variety of programs for learningpracticeexperience that cannot be found in regular school classrooms will be provided during the camp, with classes on various subjects including art, sciencegymnastics.

Children’s Anshim Schools are afterschool childcare facilities within schools for the children of working or low-income parents which provide afterschool educational programs. As of theof last year, a total of 52 Anshim schools with 77 classrooms have been opened including some off-school facilities such as those in GNUEthe Wabu Library.

The Children’s Anshim School of GNUE was established in March. Forty university students, who were recruited as mentors, provide the children with continuous classes in regular school subjects as well as specialized education in Englishmusic.

A total of KRW 8.5 million will be awarded as prize money to 23 winners including KRW 1.5 million to the first place winner, KRW 500,000 to second place winnersKRW 200,000 to the third place winners in each category.

5.Invitation of Participants for Second ‘G-Business Startup Project’

The ‘G-Business Startup Project’ launched last yearGyeonggi Province in collaboration with the Gyeonggi SmallMedium Business Center achieved a great success with 157 cases of new job creation. The provincial governmentnow inviting participants for the second project with this year’s target of 170 newly established businesses595 new jobs.

Gyeonggi Provincethe Gyeonggi SmallMedium Business Center jointly invited 36 participants to apply for the second G-Business Startup ProjectAugust 13th.

The purpose of the G-Business Startup Projectto provide support for the establishment of new businesses among young or middle-aged individuals who have potentially profitable new technologies or ideas but are unable to start businesses because they lack sufficient funds or knowledge in business establishment procedures.

There are currently 134 potential business founders working in collaboration on business incubation at the Advanced Institute of Convergence Technologythe Common Business Incubation Center in the Gyeonggi Institute of Technology. So far, 44 intellectual property rights27 businesses have been successfully registered as a result of this endeavor.

6.Abundant Marine Leisure Opportunities in Gyeonggi’s Coastal Areas

7.Competitiveness of Small & Medium-sized Companies Improves through New Product Development

The development of new innovative productsessential for the competitiveness of smallmedium-sized companies. A small company in Paju (파주) City has developed an innovative productis now well recognized in overseas markets.

A puzzle consists of 39 pieces with eight pieces along the cylindrical circle of each of the 5 vertically stacked rows except for one missing piece.

The puzzlesolved whenthe pieces are arranged in color groupsmoving the pieces circularly or vertically.

The inventor of this unique puzzle, Kim Jong-man in Paju, says that he developed it as the result of his attempt to invent an educational toy that can help the intellectualemotional development of children distracting themaddictive video games.

After spending five years developing this puzzle, Kim finally obtained approvalthe Patent Office for designtrademark registration. He now exports the toys to the United States, CanadaAustralia.

In order to support smallmedium-sized companies with the development of new products, Gyeonggi Province began operating the G-New Product Development Center at the Gyeonggi SmallMedium Business Centerthis year. The purpose of the G-New Product Development Centerto help smallmedium-sized companies strengthen their competitivenessproviding them with a range of supports for the development of designs, prototypesfinal products.
