1.Pedaling over Prejudice to a World of Hope!

Gyeonggi Provincehosting a long-distance bicycle tourthe Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex in Suwon City to Tdangkeutmaeul in Haenam , South Jeolla Province. What makes this event uniquethat among the ranks of the participants are cyclers with mental disabilities. The participants will travelbicycle for five days as part of a campaign to inspire respectsecure their human rights, thereby pedaling over the prejudices of the world. Ithoped that this event will inspire a shift toward non-discrimination in the social perception of the mentally challenged.

Participants fasten flags with words of hope on their bicyclesaffably check each others’ equipment. Even the prospect of a grueling journey doesdampen their enthusiasm.
‘The Gyeonggi Province Cycling Tour for the Mentally Challenged,’ held under the slogan of “On Pedals of Hope beyond Gazes of Prejudice,”now marking its fourth year. Participants with mental disabilities will travel for five days on bicyclethe Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex to Tdangkeutmaeu l in Haenam, South Jeolla Province.
A total of 40 cyclers including 15 mentally challenged participants will cycle through Daejeon GwangjuHaenam. The participants with mental disabilities will form a leading group in the campaign to alleviate social prejudice against the mentally challenged.
Let’s hope that this bicycle tour will be an occasion during which mentally challenged individuals are encouraged to overcome limitationsfoster hope for rehabilitation also inspiring social non-discrimination towards individuals with mental disabilities.
2. ‘Children’s House in the Workplace’ SupportedGyeonggi Province

To offset the low birth-rate trendincrease the number of economically active women, Gyeonggi Province will expand its support for companies in the province to encourage the creation of Children’s Houses in workplaces.

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will expand its support for the establishment of Children’s Houses in workplaces in order to provide working parents, including working couples, with optimal childcare support.
A survey of Children’s House s revealed a very high degree of satisfaction,the number of applications for admissionincreasing every month.
There are 91 Children’s Houses operating in 135 workplaces in Gyeonggi Provincethe establishment of Children’s Housescompulsory. However, nearly half of them are unable to provide proper childcare facilities due to a lack of funds for the establishmentoperation of the service.
Gyeonggi Province will provide companies with continuous administrative supportinitial planning to the actual operation of the Children’s House in the Workplace. Gyeonggi Province plans to establish 10 new Children’s Houses in workplaces based on previous experience.
3.Korea International Boat Show Opened on Golden West Coast

The opening ceremony for the 3rd Korea International Boat ShowWorld Match Racing Tour – Korea Match Cup took place at Jeongok Port with the participation of a large number of companiesaround the world.

The 3rd Korea International Boat ShowWorld Match Racing Tour – Korea Match Cup began with a ceremonial demonstration of Taekwondo (태권도). Attracting more global interest than ever, this year’s boat show opened in the presence of more than 2,000 staffinvited Koreanoverseas participants.
The 12 sailing teams participating in the World Match Racing Tour – Korea Match Cup, which takes place concurrently with the Korea International Boat Show, were also present at the opening ceremony as well as Second Vice-minister Choi Jang-hyeon of the Korean Ministry of Land, TransportMaritime Affairs, who stressed the importance of this year’s boat show.
Visitors to this year’s boat show were satisfied with what they saw. The 10,400 square-meter Boat Exhibition Hall was packed with visitors.
The Boat Show runs for five days until June 13th. Ita festival of maritime leisure sport as well as a live stage for international business. This year’s show will also firmly position it as theboat show in Asia.
4. Learning to SailingFun

Sailing has been considered an exclusive sport enjoyed onlya small number of affluent people. However, one can now learn to sail at the Sailing Academy in Jeongok Port of Hwaseong City…the tuition feequite cheap!.

A sailboat cuts through the waves. Sailing students enjoy the cool ocean-scented wind whistling by. Well, ita little scary with the strong windall…but they muster up their couragetentatively attempt to steer the boat. Returningtheir first jaunt on a sailboat, the students no longer fear the ocean.
The Inha University team of the Gyeonggi Sea Grant Program has been operating a Sailing Academy at Jeongok Port in Hwaseong City since April 1st.
The Hwaseong Sea Grant Academy offers three programs including Dinghy Sailing for one to two persons.
Training consists of a one-day course of actual sailing on the sea after education on theorysafety.
The training courseopen to anyone beyond the 4th grade of primary school,a tuition fee of KRW 10,000 per person covers the cost of insurancea textbook.
Applications can be submitted through the homepage of the Gyeonggi Sea Grant Program Team of Inha University at www.ggsg.or.kr. For the Dinghy Sailing Course, a maximum 40 of spaces are available.
The pilot operation of the Sailing Academy during JulyAugust last year was successful. Itexpected to attract more participants this year as the academynow open for a longer period.
5.The Imminent Korea Match Cup Final

On the day before the opening of the 2010 World Match Racing Tour – Korea Match Cup, a pro-am competition was held to allow the participating competitors to warm up for the main competition. Last year’s winner, Paolo Cian,determined to become the winner of two consecutive years.

6.Combination of Lifelong Education with Job Placement for a New Era in Lifelong Education

Gyeonggi Province announced that it will launch lifelong education programs featuring the new concept of job placement this year.

Lifelong education so far has been pursued within the context of cultivating individualssatisfying one’s desire for learning.
Gyeonggi Province plans to customized job opportunitieslinking the lifelong education of individuals with internshipsjob placements.
A total of KRW 1 billion will be devoted to 52 educational programs that will made available to 1,700 trainees at universitiescontinuing education institutes in Gyeonggi Province beginningmid-June.
Programs will include groundskeeper training courses including the Suwon City Forest Guide Training CourseYongin City Golf Course Management Course11 certificate courses including the Yangju City Skin Beautician Certificate Course.
If oneinterested in becoming a skin beautician, for example, one can first join the skin beautician programobtain certification. Then continuous support will be provided through the programlinking the trainee with an internship opportunity or with an instructor or a self-employer position.

Although the total number of participating companies was less than that of last year, there are many more top-level companies with more balanced fields this year.
A total of 106 domestic companies121 overseas companies participated in this year’s Korea International Boat Show.
