1.”Management Doctor” Launched First Time Nationwide

There are larger medium-sized companies with strong technological power who find it difficult to enter the realm of large enterprises because of a lack of proactive business strategiesmanagement tems. Gyeonggi Province launched Management Doctor, the first program of its kind in Korea, to help such companies.

Gyeonggi Provincethe Gyeonggi Medium & Small-Sized Companies General Support Center of the SNU Business School signed the Management Doctor Support Agreement to help larger medium-sized companies within Gyeonggi Province.

Under this Agreement, Gyeonggi Province will provide the ed larger medium-sized companies with administrativefinancial support, Seoul National University will provide consultingeducation services.

For those outstanding small, mediumlarger medium-sized companies ed, Gyeonggi Province plans to provide Management Doctor support customized for each growth stage of the company.

Support will initially be provided to three ed companies this year,more companies will be added next year depending upon the assessment of the outcomes.

2.First Cactus Makgeolli Hits the Market

The Gyeonggido Agricultural Research & Extension Service has developed a new makgeolli, a traditional Korean unrefined rice wine, using cactus fruits for the first time nationwide. It will be released next month.

The Gyeonggido Agricultural ResearchExtension Service signed an agreement with Goyang City for the transfer of cactus makgeolli production technology that they developed for the first time nationwide. Goyangthe country`s main cactus producer. The first products will hit the shelves this May.

The fruit of the Cheonnyeoncho, known as `palm cactus` in Korea`eastern prickly pear` in America,its main ingredient.

This pink-hued makgeolli has the unique aroma of cactus.

It contains anti-cancer, anti-aging compounds known as flavonoids as well as large amounts of vitamin Ccalcium.

As makgeollirapidly gaining popularity both domesticallyoverseas, this special makgeolli madericecactus produced in Gyeonggi Provinceexpected to contribute to the local economyexports.

3. Development of Gyeonganchon Artificial Marsh

Gyeongancheon has suffered the stigma of being a major source of water pollution in the Paldang area. Now the establishment of the nation`s largest artificial water-purifying marsh has changedthat. The marshonly improves the quality of Gyeongancheon water but also serves as a leisure space for local residents.

The largest artificial water-purifying marsh nationwide was built in Gyeongancheon.

Recently completed, thisthe 4th artificial marsh in Gyeonggi Province. Italso the 3rd in Gwangju City.

These three artificial marshes in Gwangju are capable of treating 42,587 tons of water everyday. They are expected to reduce biological oxygen demand20.65% to 39.4% for an average of 32.5%.

Following the development of this artificial marsh, work on two more marshes willin Jeongji-ri at theof this year. When they are completed in 2012, there will be a total of 184,116㎡ of artificial marshes in Gyeongancheon.
These beautifully landscaped Gyeongancheon artificial marshes with ecological parks are expected to become popular places for ecological observationleisure among local residents.

4.GG Call Taxi: The First Step Towards Luxury Taxi Service

GG Call Taxi, with the launch its service integrating hundreds of call taxi centers in Gyeonggi Province,expected to provide more convenientbetter quality service.

[REPORT]
GG Call, the integrated call taxi brand of Gyeonggi Province with higher quality services, began operation.

GG Call Taxi held its inaugural ceremony at the Suwon Sports Complex,has begun operating approximately 4,250 taxis.

With the GG Call service in place, customers can now more easily call a taxia fleet of more than 4,000 vehicles through a single phone numberanywhere in the province.

Previously there were 194 call taxi centers with 232 call numbers in Gyeonggi Province alone, making it a troublesome task to call a cab. Now, however, the troubleover.

All taxis feature a new common design. They will remain stationary waiting for calls instead of roaming the streets, so GG Call will reduce fuel costsair pollution easing traffic jams.

Gyeonggi Province plans to increase the number of taxis to 7,000theof this year,to 10,000 next year. The province will exercise strict evaluationcontrol to ensure that the service quality of GG Callmaintained.

5. Kia Motors Voiced Their Distress… Gyeonggi Province Listened

Kia Motors` Hwaseong Plant manufactures 600,000 cars each year. The Gyeonggi Province Company SOS Support Team visited the plant to help improve their situation.

The roadtoo narrow for cars to passappears even more dangerous when a large vehiclea truck travels along it. Large vehicles carrying new carsthe factory can often be seen using this precarious road.

Gyeonggi Province visited the Hwaseong Plant of Kia Motorsresolved to take active measures with Hwaseong City to help address the issue.

In order to tackle the problems facedlong-distance commuters, they also discussed the provision of low-priced apartments near the plantthe improvement of the surrounding residential environment.

Gyeonggi Province promises to extend continuous administrativefinancial support to large enterprises such as Kiaalleviating their difficulties through onsite investigation.

6. Title: Overcoming Mental Disabilities with “Farm Works”

A study recently reported that the mental disabilities of those with normal physical health were positively improved after farm work such as vegetable cultivation.

Mental disabilities are a serious disorder causedgenetic abnormalities, diseases or brain disorders.

A recent study reported that vocational rehabilitationmuch better than conventional treatments offeredrehabilitation facilities.

According to the study, six mentally disabled individuals were assigned tomato farm work for 8 months,their physicalmental conditions were observed.

The report points out that the simple production jobs offeredmost vocational rehabilitation centers only serve to weaken productivity as they are irrelevant to the interestsaptitudes of the disabled.

Since early this year, Gyeonggi Province has been operating a model Green Farm to allow those with mental disabilities to undertake farmingsellingthemselves. This actively helps them with rehabilitationprovides them with employment.

The active development of profitable primary industry projects which correspond with the aptitudes of the disabled, such as the cultivation of special-purpose plants,expected to play a key role in realizing their independence.

7. Thailand Wins Suwon Cup International Youth Football Championship

With the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa only a few weeks away, international youth football teams arrived in Gyeonggi Provincecompeted for Suwon Cup. The cup went to the teamThailand.

Seven football teamsaround the world gathered on the turf damp with morning dewrenewed their resolve to win.

The 2nd Suwon Cup International Youths Football Tournament began its 3-day competition in the Suwon World Cup Stadium, venue for some of the exciting events of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan.

The tournament began with the opening game between ThailandSouth Africa. Thailand team soared to the final gamethey won 3:1 over the US.

Suwon Samsung Little Wings defeated the Japanese teama score of 4:0secured third place.

The South African teamthe host country of the 2010 World Cup prevailed against Russia with a score of 1:0ranked 7th.
