The theme was the DMZ symbolizing peace, communication, lifeco-existence.

Gyeonggi Provincegoing to host the DMZ documentary film festival startingthe eve of October 21stit will run for five days starting the 22nd.

The film festival started with the opener `The Heart of Jenin` directedLeon GellerMarcus Vetter.

62 movies30 countries are going to be introduced.

Mean, to better promote the film festival Gyeonggi Province has appointed singer Yun Do-hyeon, the celebrity Lee In-hyea student Kim Kwan-yu who lives in Daeseong Dong Village near the DMZ.

The DMZ, a symbol of peacethe value of life meets documentaries with various approachesquestions about communication methods.

2. Skilled Should be ExemptMilitary Service

Gyeonggi Province was the winner at the 44th National Skills Competition. While that was positive, on a negative note, the Ministry of Defense decided to do away with military exemption for those with skills.

Gyeonggi Province held the goodwill ambassador appointment ceremony for former congressman Kim Chang-jun to work with joint projects in the US.

Former Congressman Kim Chang-junthe representative Korean politician in America who worked as Diamond Bar, California Mayor before serving 3 successive terms as House Representative.

Also, former congressman Kim has much interestproposals regarding DMZ related projects.

With the appointment of former Congressman Kim we can anticipate projects Gyeonggipursuing within the US to go smoothly.

With Kim Chang-jun`s appointment, we look forward to Gyeonggi strengthening its investment inducementtrade with the US, a world leader in technologythe world`s largest consumer market.

4. Bak Ji-seong Opens the Soccer Center

A soccer center will be built with the Manchester United Bak Ji-seong`s name on it.

Manchester United`s Bak Ji-seong smiles at the ground-breaking ceremony of a soccer center bearing his name.

The Suwon native Bak Ji-seong visited the site for the ground-breaking for the soccer center along with many representativesGyeonggi Provincethe soccer community.

The soccer center to be completedJune next year will be built on a more than 15,000 square meter plot to include 2 youth regulation size artificial turf fields,a two story clubhouse with a basement.

From this center youths dreaming of being soccer athletes will learnBak Ji-seong, the national representativesoccer know-how obtainedEurope.

Gyeonggi Province plans to support the Bak Ji-seong Soccer Center for to help youths dreaming of standing on the world stage to grab a spot through these soccer fields.

The 3rd Hiddink Dreamfield soccer stadium for the handicapped opened last July. With the opening of the Bak Ji-seong Soccer Center Gyeonggi will continue to be well-known for soccer.

5. Children`s Drawing Contest Under Multicultural Theme

A national drawing contest was conducted under the theme of multiculturalism.

Intended for elementary school students throughout Korea the drawing contest was held under the themes `we are Korean,`together with multiculturalism.`

This contest helps people to understand about the now growing number of multicultural families,to reduce any prejudices against such individuals.

The contest will be held in an online format to abate worries of Swine Flu.

A grand prize winner will be ed along with 5 first prize winners5 honorable mention winners with plenty of goodies to be offered to the childrenthe Korean Tourism Organization.

Also, Inoori plans to host a 2 day 1 night camp intended for children of multicultural families across the peninsula.

They also stated they will go to great lengths to inform multicultural families about Korean culture.

6. Metropolitan Economic Development Committee held

Gyeonggi Province, SeoulIncheon held a Metropolitan Economic Development Committee to a hub in Northeast Asia.

On the 5th Provincial Governor Kim Mun-su, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hunIncheon Mayor Ahn Sang-su sat down together.
The Metropolitan Economic Development Committee was held.

The citiesprovince will develop knowledge based industriesbuild an infrastructure to develop the metropolitan area into a global business hub.

4 great strategies including the construction of a low emissions green growth base,the rationalization of metropolitan regulations were presented.

Taking into consideration the vision of the metro area development, projects in 8 fields have been ed.

Lastly, we will prioritize the Hangang Main Tributaries restoration projectnew renewable energy projects.

Gyeonggi Province, SeoulIncheon are determined through active cooperation to develop projects to make it a metropolitan hub in Northeast Asia.

7. Running Self-help Organization for Homeless

Gyeonggi Provincespurring on support projects to help homeless lead independent lives.

Thisthe site of self help work in Suwon, Gyeonggi.
The homeless are separating broken electronicsplacingparts together.

At the self help project organization located in Suwon, SeongnamAnyang, 57 homeless participate in agriculture,removing old books, cleaning, removing unused resources,sorting parts.

The budget Gyeonggi has set aside for the self help project$818,000.

Homeless that can work in the shelter are edsent to other self-help centers to help other homeless become independent.

A homeless shelteralso being run.
However, it can only house 15 people, falling short of providing forthe homeless.
