1. Lateral Construction Expected on Three GTX Lines

The UijeongbuGunpo local civic groups h디d a rally requesting the construction of the Uijeongbu~Geumjeong route of the GTX.

On August 1, the Ministry of Land, TransportMaritime Affairs officially recognized the Dongtan-Gangnam GTX. Hearing the news, GunpoUijeongbu residents grew uneasy at a potential postponement of GTX construction in their areasinsisted on simultaneous construction.

The former draft of the GTX route that has been raisedGyeonggi to the Government, includes the routesKintex to Dongtan, Uijeongbu to Geumjeong,Cheongnyangni to Songdo. However, currently, only the route connecting Dongtan to Gangnam have been recognized.

In July, Cheongnyangni residents held a policy forum pushing for the GTX to be expanded. The other undecided areas, Gunpo, Uijeongbu,Ilsan have also carried on with their framework of GTX construction.

250 of those leading environmental protection are nominated as `Honorary Environment Rangers`.

For two years, they will be monitoringreporting polluting acts,carry on conservation activities such as garbage collection.

Since 2003, Gyeonggi has formed the `Honorary Environment Rangers` to strengthen its environment control tem.

For last two years, about 2100 cases of polluting have been reportedHonorary Rangers. Thisthe equivalent of 8 reports per rangers. It has also been shown that the reported number of cases are increasing each year.

Environmental protectiona precondition of advanced country. We should be actively participating in such activities in order for us to be one.

3. Gyeonggi Youths, Culturally Outstanding

Korean classical music resounds throughout the hall. An exciting performance engrosses performersthe audience in the music.

Gyeonggi Youth`s Art Festival, arranged to implant desirable charactercreativity to young people, will be held at Ansan Arts Center

Teens will be competing for different categories such as literature, music,performances.

Through this art Gyeonggi Provinceraising sound youth through inspiring cultural sensitivitywas seen as cultivating pride in one`s workownership.

This art show would be a great experience for teenagers to expand their cultural sensitivity.

4. Pyeongteak Harbor Boasts Simulation Game

Also, cargopassenger ships are being anchored in the harbor.

Both the cargo loadinganchoragevirtually simulated in the game.

In order to facilitate people`s understanding of its harborshipping, Peongtaek installed a simulation game in its public relations office.

It has turned out that the ShippingAnchoring simulation gamepopular among young visitors.

Pyeongtaek harbor public relations office also offers a lookout pointexhibition hall for viewers to look over the portthe 3rd floor.

Pyeongtaektaking off under the efforts to become closer to the residents to becoming a hub for the distribution industry of the West Sea.

5. Governor Kim, Disguised as a Librarian

Governor Kim worked as a librarian here in Gunpo Central Library on September 5.

Governor Kim carried out duties such as arranging booksissuing membership cards.

He also read books out loud to children who visited the library. His appearance looked justa grandpa reading books to his grandchildren.

This eventone of many activities Governor Kim engages in, to come in touch with the ordinary life of Gyeonggi residents.

The Governor had time with Gyeonggi residentslibrarians to talk about their personal troubles.

The lent amount increases20%more poemsfictions are lent out in the Fall. We expect more popularity in reading through this activity.

6. Job exhibition for the aged.

Seniors start filling out the test sheet oneone.

During the job council, there were chances to look for the right job.

On September 4, about 2000 people visited the exhibition, 20 companies employed 500 old people who applied for the production, cleaning,security on the spot.

Peopleeach ctiy brought in 25 different handmade products such as soap, shrouds, craft works made out of straw,food for sale.

The most interesting part of this exhibitionthe work skill exposition.

The qualifiers competed on different skills such as fairy tale narration, needle work,crafts.

Of people older than 65 who live in Gyeonggi, only 24,800 people were engaged in work. Gyeonggi decided to hold this expositionperiods to derive more of the senior population to take part in social activity.

7. GyeonggiWorking to Attract InvestmentAmerica

On September 8th, American time, the teamGyeonggi signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a distribution corporation, Chelsea, which concluded to invest in Paju.

Accordingly, there will be a premium outlet with 100 fashion brands to be opened in Paju.

Thisthe second investment memorandum concluded with a foreign company since HES, the water purification company.

HES, which has been operating its factory at Hwaseong, will be investing dollars in a water purification tem facility in Jangan Industrial complex in Hwaseong. They will be exporting products made in this facility to other countries including the United StatesCanada.

According to these two MOUs, Gyeonggi will have $125 million dollars worth of investments.
