1. [Quitting Smoking]

A clinic to help people quit smoking has been a big help for reducing smoking rates in the province.

It has been 2 weeks since Ra Gi-bong has quit. He makes a visit to the quit smoking clinic for counselingtesting.

It wasn`t easy to quit after smoking for 20 years. But after quitting he feels completely different in mindy.

There are smoke counselors running quit smoking clinics. They are stationed at45 health centers in Gyeonggi.

At present the number registered at the quit smoking clinics number about 55,000, with nearly half of themsmoking a single puff.

Based on the results recorded this year the quit smoking clinic will be open at regular hoursmore areas will have a non-smoking designation.

Also, the designation of a `non-smoking public facilities` lawplanned to be expanded to other citiestowns.

The negative posts are becoming a social problem,efforts are being expanded on to put anto this.

With famous celebrities often being the target, negative postings are easily be found on their blogs.

Negative posts so common they are even becoming source material for comedians.

This has recently grown into more of a social problem with celebrities ting suicide after being upsetnegative posts.

Accordingly, a movement thatjust the opposite of negative posts has grown in popularity among netizens.

In addition Gyeonggi Provincethe Gyeonggi Ministry of Education signed a joint oath with the Positive Posts Movement Headquarters.

There are plansMarch of next year to encourage various groups, schoolsoffices to participate in the positive posting campaign.

Much reflection about negative postsneeded for a more friendly internet environment.

3. [Expansion of Food Origin Marks]

Beef, pork, chickeneven kimchi will be required to have country of origin marked on the package.

The country of origin marks will be carried in earnest after three months of inspections.

4. [Loving More with Coins]

Volunteers hold up boxes at each of the tollgates to collect donations.

Last year $392,000 in donations were collected at expressway tollgates in Gyeonggi Province.

This year about 400 volunteers are out collecting coins each day.

The economic recession has made it difficult for everyone. But somehow the number of donations seem to have grown.

With a goal of $8.1 million the thermometer tower of love now stands at 15.9 degrees.

5. [Support for Yuna]

Figure skater Kim Yuna received the `fund for developing global sports talent` presentedGyeonggi Province.

About ten callers every day say they want to suicide.

For the first time in the country, federalprovincial money has been provided to establish the Gyeonggi Collaborating Center for Psychological RehabilitationCommunity Mental Health. The center has been taking suicide related calls since last July.

There has recently been a surge of those choosing totheir lives amidst the recent continuous recession.

There have been many taking their own lives after hearing news of celebrity suicide.

They are consoled with comforting words.
One call can mean so much to those in pain.

7. [Soil Inspection Project Grows in Popularity]

The Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services are prescribing the right crops for farmers soil conditions after carrying out soil analysis. The results have been an increase in crop yields much pleasing the farming community.

Lee Ki-jong raises lettucepak choi in Yongin, Gyeonggi .

When he first started raising lettuce 4 years ago he tried everything to farm, with little success. Then he requested a soil analysis be done.

The results have shown that Lee`s field was so abundant in nutrients that adding fertilizer would be detrimental to his crops.

Lee`s yields have greatly increased after managing the soil content with the Agricultural Research & Extension Services.

The soil inspection project provides a free analysis of the soilthe Agricultural Research & Extension Services labs.

The test results can be reviewed after sending a crop sample to the center within one week after being picked.

Starting next year, the soil inspection project will be greatly expanded which should add to an increase in crop yields for farmers.
