[We’ll Take Responsibility]

The Gyeonggi International Boat Show and Korea Match Cup World Yacht Contest are just 2 weeks away. A appointment ceremony for goodwill ambassadors for the events was held on May 25that Jeongok Port, Hwaseong.
Soccer Star Pak Ji-seong and singer Jo Yong-pil have been appointed goodwill ambassadors of the Gyeonggi International Boat Show and Korea Match Cup World Yacht Contest.

Great dreams that have spread througout the world, together with Pak Ji-seong, Jo Yong-pil we will achieve them.

I hope that with the World Yacht Contest in Jeongok Port, Jeongok can become a global city. Also, I will do my best.

[No More Barbed Wire!]

Civil appeals to remove the barbed wire and guard posts that went up as a military strategic necessity during the construction of the Shiwha and Hwaseong seawalls have been heard. Within this year all old metal fences are planned to be removed.

An excavator is clearing out a barrier guard post that was erected built next to the sidewalk. In 2002 while the Shihwa Seawall was being newly built the barbed wire and guard posts that were necessary for defense are not playing any role.
At the bull session held at the armed services headquarters on My 22nd the military and Gyeonggi Province mutually agreed on the removal of the idle barbed wire that has been discussed after civil appeals from local residents continuously streamed in, resulting in a speedy removal lasting just 5 days.

Whether it was because the area nearby was being used as a park by locals, or whether it was because of the coastal view being obscured by menacing iron railings, the idle guard posts can give them a feeling of oppression. Through this project we will see the eye sores disappear.

There is 32km of barbed wire and about 100 guard posts and lookouts that are being removed. The military, by stationing troops to do the job, cleared 6 kilometers of barbed wire and 14 guard posts in one week, while the Korea water Corporation will complete the removal works by the end of the year.

The Hwaseong Fire Station which was built in the Hyangnam area, standing 3 stories tall with a first floor basement will have jurisdiction over 22 towns and counties, serving a total population of 400,000 residents. Accidents and fires that were once covered under the jurisdiction of the Osan Fire Station are expected to be dealt with much more quietly. With the opening of the Hwaseong Fire Station the number of Fire Stations in Gyeonggi Province stands at 35, not including the fire stations to be built this year in Yeoncheon and Yangju.
